{"id":2943,"date":"2009-12-31T12:10:58","date_gmt":"2009-12-31T10:10:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/?p=2943"},"modified":"2009-12-31T12:11:21","modified_gmt":"2009-12-31T10:11:21","slug":"obama-terror-plot-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/obama-terror-plot-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama to receive terror plot report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>US President Barack Obama will receive a preliminary report on how a 23-year-old Nigerian with suspected terrorist ties managed to board a plane he is accused of attempting to bomb on Christmas Day, along with recommendations on how to prevent a sequel.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/obama1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2944\" title=\"Obama to receive terror plot report\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/obama1-280x208.jpg\" alt=\"Obama to receive terror plot report\" width=\"280\" height=\"208\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/obama1-280x208.jpg 280w, https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/obama1.jpg 404w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 280px) 100vw, 280px\" \/><\/a>The report is just the first step in what is shaping up to be an Obama-led effort to change and challenge US intelligence practices after an attack that failed not because of anti-terrorism policies, but rather despite them.<\/p>\n<p>Administration officials said the system to protect America&#8217;s skies from terrorists was deeply flawed and, even then, the government failed to follow its own directives.<\/p>\n<p>The White House homeland security and counterterrorism adviser was scheduled to send Mr Obama a first summary of efforts to track more than half a million potential terrorists who would harm the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said it was unlikely Mr Obama would speak publicly about the report, although the president would probably talk several times throughout the day with his national security team.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Obama has demanded answers on why information never was pieced together by the US intelligence community that could have prevented terrorist suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, charged with trying to destroy a Detroit-bound airliner, from ever getting on the plane.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Obama called the situation &#8220;totally unacceptable&#8221; when he met with reporters on Tuesday and put his top intelligence officials on notice that he wanted changes.<\/p>\n<p>Administration officials have spent the last week poring over reams of data, looking for failings that allowed Abdulmutallab to board the Northwest Airlines flight from Nigeria by way of Amsterdam.<\/p>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #f00;\">Error, group does not exist!
