Manchester United hasn’t done so badly signing Dutch players in the last decade or so. The likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Edwin van der Sar and most recently Robin van Persie immediately come to mind in that respect.<\/p>\n

If the latest rumours are to be believed (and let’s be honest, most of the time they aren’t), Wesley Sneijder could soon follow in his countrymen’s footsteps and make the high-profile move to Old Trafford this January<\/p>\n

The Red Devils have tracked the 28-year-old since 2010, with Sir Alex Ferguson known to be a huge admirer of his talents.<\/p>\n

So why not pick a potential Manchester United starting XI to include the superstar? The transfer may be one more akin to\u00a0FIFA\u00a013<\/em>\u00a0than reality, but you just never know with\u00a0Fergie.<\/p>\n

A typical No. 10,\u00a0the Dutchman\u00a0seems to only feel comfortable playing the\u00a0trequartistarole for Inter, with little inclination for dropping back and helping his team defensively.\u00a0Although he\u00a0clearly prefers to play in behind a lone striker, he often has a tendency to drift out to the flanks in his quest for as many touches of the ball as possible.<\/p>\n

His long-range passing and shooting abilities have always been a key aspect of his game\u2014in many\u00a0respects he is very similar to the type of player that Wayne Rooney has swiftly developed into this term.<\/p>\n

One possible formation that would suit\u00a0Sneijder\u00a0is the diamond, but that would require Wayne Rooney pushing up alongside van Persie in attack, removing him from the deeper-lying position that he has so excelled in.<\/p>\n

There is also the 4-4-2, but\u00a0Sneijder\u00a0is such an attacking player, there would be a real lack of defensive cover in the shape of his central partner.<\/p>\n

So how\u00a0do<\/em>\u00a0you\u00a0include both the Dutchman and Rooney in\u00a0the\u00a0same\u00a0lineup?<\/p>\n

I’ve\u00a0plumped for Tom\u00a0Cleverley\u00a0alongside Anderson in a three-man central midfield ahead of the Japanese playmaker\u00a0Shinji\u00a0Kagawa, and also included Michael Carrick in his natural holding position.<\/p>\n

Wesley Sneijder\u00a0has the natural\u00a0disposition to push forward as much as possible, so the concept of him\u00a0playing\u00a0alongside a Carrick or Darren\u00a0Fletcher in a deeper role is fatally flawed.<\/p>\n

Manchester United’s defensive deficiencies this season has been in large part due to a lack of midfield support\u2014teaming\u00a0Sneijder\u00a0up with Michael Carrick in the 4-2-3-1 would only make matters worse.<\/p>\n

Wesley Sneijder, according to Damiani, will certainly leave Inter Milan in the next transfer window, following a contract dispute, which saw the Dutchman being frozen out of the team line-up since September and the agent believes Manchester United would be his likely destination.<\/p>\n

The player\u2019s agent Oscar Damiani said;\u201cI think that his next target is the Premier League, at a club like Manchester United. I do not think other clubs good solution for Wesley.<\/p>\n\n
