The Beatles\u00a0Some 65 unpublished color photographs dating from 1964 and the Fab Four\u2019s first tour of the US have been put up for auction.<\/h1>\n

According to the British Beatles Fan Club spokesperson quoted by the BBC,\u00a0“new photographs that emerge of The Beatles are always of interest to the fans.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0These seem to be an even more precious catch as they are in color.

\n\u201cWith the majority of photographs from this tour in black and white, it is a delight to see colour photographs from that historic tour.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The previously unpublished pictures were taken during the Fab Four’s triumphant summer 1964 visit when Beatlemania was taking America by storm.<\/p>\n

Ernie Sutton, of the British Beatles Fan Club, said: “New photographs that emerge of The Beatles are always of interest to the fans, but with the majority of photographs from this tour in black and white, it is a delight to see colour photographs.”<\/p>\n

Colour photography was more expensive and seen as too extravagant for a new pop group who many felt were just a passing fad.<\/p>\n

The collection of 65 slides contains stage shots, including George Harrison with his red Rickenbacker guitar, famously used on the A Hard Day’s Night album, close-up portraits from a news conference in Las Vegas and pictures from a private party.<\/p>\n

The photos are expected to fetch between \u00a310,000 and \u00a315,000.<\/p>\n

The lot will go on sale on March 22, 50 years to the day in 1963 when The Beatles released their first album, Please Please Me.<\/p>\n

The pictures on offer, taken by award-winning physicist Dr. Robert Beck, depict the famed Liverpool band during their 1964 US tour. Pictures show the stars on stage, during press conferences and in informal meetings.<\/p>\n

The series of photographs will be auctioned through Omega Auction on March 22, which is also the 50th anniversary of the release of the Beatles\u2019 first album, Please Please Me.<\/p>\n

According to auction house spokesperson Paul Fairweather the shots are expected to sell for between $16,000 and $25,000.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
