Indian government Wednesday termed mutilation of its soldiers allegedly by Pakistani troops as inhuman and asked Pakistan to probe the incident and respect sanctity of Line of Control (LoC).<\/h1>\n

New Delhi, Jan 9\/Nationalturk – A day after accusing Pakistani soldiers of crossing Line of Control (LoC), defacto border between India and Pakistan in Indian administered Kashmir, Indian government Wednesday termed mutilation of its soldiers as inhuman and asked Pakistan to probe the incident and respect sanctity of LoC.<\/p>\n

While talking to media persons in Indian capital, New Delhi, Indian Defence Minister A K Antony said Pakistan army’s action is highly provocative. \u201cThe way they treated the bodies of Indian soldiers is inhuman\u201d.<\/p>\n

Indian army had said last evening that Pakistani soldiers had crossed LoC in Poonch sector of Indian Kashmir and ambushed an Indian patrol party, killing two soldiers and injuring another.<\/p>\n

There were reports that Pakistani soldiers had beheaded Indian army men and taken their weapons alongwith them. The dead soldiers have been identified as Lance Naik Hemraj and Sudhakar Singh.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s envoy to India Salman Bashir was summoned by Indian External Affairs Ministry this morning and Indian government lodged a protest against yesterday\u2019s breach of LoC by Pakistani soldiers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe asked Pakistan to investigate the barbaric and inhuman mutilation of our soldiers. The Government of Pakistan was asked to immediately investigate these actions that are in contravention of all norms of international conduct and ensure that these do not recur,\u201d an Indian foreign ministry spokesman said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid told media that Pakistan’s envoy was told in strongest terms that yesterday’s killing\u00a0 of two Indian soldiers by Pakistani troops is unacceptable. \u201cIf it is not immediately contained, it will have an adverse impact on what we have been trying to do for such a long time.”<\/p>\n

He said Pakistan was told that if such actions were not contained immediately, it might affect what the two countries had been trying to achieve for a long time.<\/p>\n

He, however, cautioned against escalation of tension.<\/p>\n

Pak army rejects Indian army\u2019s allegation<\/h2>\n

Meanwhile, according to Indian TV channel CNN-IBN, Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations spoke to his Indian counterpart over the telephone and denied that Pakistani soldiers killed Indian soldiers.<\/p>\n

Media reports quoted a Pakistani military official as saying that Pakistan’s DGMO Maj Gen Ashfaq Nadeem talked to his Indian counterpart Lt Gen Vinod Bhatia on a hotline today.<\/p>\n

\u201cNadeem rejected Indian army’s allegations of cross-LoC firing by Pakistani troops and killing any Indian soldier,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said Pakistan DGMO informed his Indian counterpart that Pakistan army has carried out ground verification and checked and found nothing of this sort happened as is being alleged by India.<\/p>\n

“It is mere propaganda by the Indian army,” the official claimed.<\/p>\n

Pakistan ready for third party to verify Indian claims<\/h3>\n

Meanwhile CNN-IBN said Pakistan\u2019s Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has denied Pakistan’s hand in the killings of Indian soldiers.<\/p>\n

\u201cPakistan is ready for a third party to verify their claims if India doesn’t believe in our inquiry,\u201d she was quoted as saying by the news channel.<\/p>\n
