{"id":3209,"date":"2010-01-12T13:43:04","date_gmt":"2010-01-12T11:43:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/?p=3209"},"modified":"2010-01-12T18:30:53","modified_gmt":"2010-01-12T16:30:53","slug":"alastair-campbell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/alastair-campbell\/","title":{"rendered":"Alastair Campbell denies Bush changed Blair&#8217;s views"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/alastair-campbell.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3210\" title=\"Alastair Campbell \" src=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/alastair-campbell-280x168.jpg\" alt=\"Alastair Campbell \" width=\"280\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/alastair-campbell-280x168.jpg 280w, https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/alastair-campbell.jpg 460w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 280px) 100vw, 280px\" \/><\/a>Tony Blair did not change his policy on Iraq following a meeting with President Bush in April 2002, his former spokesman Alastair Campbell has said.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Giving evidence to the Iraq inquiry, Mr Campbell said it was wrong to say that Mr Blair signed up to regime change in &#8220;a fundamental shift&#8221; in policy.<\/p>\n<p>He said Mr Blair made it clear the UK wanted to disarm Iraq through the UN.<\/p>\n<p>During three hours of questioning, he is being asked about his involvement in the build-up to war in March 2003.<\/p>\n<p>He is the most prominent figure to appear before the inquiry, which is looking at UK policy during the run-up to the 2003 war, its handling and aftermath.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Campbell, No 10 director of communications between 1997 and 2003, played a key role in the drawing up of the government&#8217;s dossier on Iraq&#8217;s alleged weapons of mass destruction.<\/p>\n<p>Inquiry chairman Sir John Chilcot said he was seeking answers from Mr Campbell about the &#8220;presentation of the case&#8221; for military action in Iraq.<\/p>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #f00;\">Error, group does not exist!
