Western Conference victory agains Eastern comming with Chris Paul’s stunning MVP performance,\u00a0summary of the night West 143-138 East in Houston.<\/h1>\n

An inspired MVP performance from Los Angeles Clippers point-guard Chris Paul led the Western Conference to a 143-138 win over their Eastern Conference counterparts in the NBA All Star Game.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Paul racked up 20 points and 15 assists in Houston during the West\u2019s five-point win while Oklahoma\u2019s Kevin Durant starred with 30 points.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony led the way for the East with 26 points while Miami Heat\u2019s Dwyane Wade scored 21 in the eagerly-anticipated, star-studded match.<\/span><\/p>\n

Clippers team-mates Paul and Blake Griffin were on the same wavelength right from the beginning as \u2018CP3\u2019 twice assisted Griffin for easy lay-ins under the rim to put the West 4-0 up.<\/span><\/p>\n

Durant added a three pointer just after for the West before Anthony scored the first basket for the Eastern Conference.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The league\u2019s best player Lebron James didn\u2019t take long to stamp his authority on the game with three powerful slam dunks before Joakim Noah put the East ahead for the first time at 24-23.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Even so, the Western Conference finished the first quarter strong with an 8-2 run to lead 31-26.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

The West picked up where they left off in the second quarter as they moved 38-30 ahead. The East recovered in double quick time, though, and Jrue Holiday\u2019s dunk with just over eight minutes until half-time put them ahead 41-40.<\/span><\/p>\n

But the two star performers of the first half were both from the West. Paul led the offence with nine assists while Durant scored 19 points as the Western Conference led 69-65 at the interval.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

After Alicia Keys performed during half-time at the Toyota Centre, the players returned for the third quarter where the match turned into a three-point fest.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wade and Dwight Howard exchanged threes to begin with before Anthony, Durant, Paul and Tony Parker all got in on the act.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Holiday scored a mid-range jump shot on the buzzer for the East but the Western Conference maintained their four-point lead to end the third quarter 108-104 ahead.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Houston\u2019s James Harden and Texas \u2018neighbour\u2019 Parker, from San Antonio, stretched the Western Conference\u2019s margin to 10 points at 119-109 before a nine-point run for the East, including a three-pointer from Cleveland\u2019s rising star Kyrie Irving reduced the West\u2019s lead to 119-118.<\/span><\/p>\n

With five minutes left on the clock in Houston the West were sitting pretty with a 127-120 lead.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

That gap was extended to 10 points with 2:33 to play when Durant scored a breakaway dunk after Kobe Bryant executed a beautiful crossover move on Chris Bosh, which led to a simple lay-in, seconds earlier.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Back-to-back three pointers from Paul George cut the East\u2019s deficit to five points with 90 seconds to play but Griffin\u2019s emphatic dunk put the Western Conference up by eight and they held on for a 143-138 win.<\/span><\/p>\n

After a day off on Monday, it will be back to business in the NBA on Tuesday as the race to the post-season enters the home straight. Miami Heat remain the class of the Eastern Conference following their title-winning season last year.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s losing finalists Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs, the team with the best record in the NBA at 42-12, are both going well in the West while the soap story that is the Los Angeles Lakers are still outside the play-off places.<\/span><\/p>\n
