Amidst the controversy United defender Rio Ferdinand is facing a possible FA charge after TV cameras caught him barging over Fernando Torres in an off-the-ball incident late in the game.<\/p>\n

Goals from Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney put United 2-0 up after only 11 minutes but Chelsea fought back in the second half with strikes from substitute Eden Hazard and Ramires. Only a brilliant last-minute save by David de Gea from Juan Mata prevented United crashing out of a second competition in a week.<\/p>\n

Benitez added: \u201cWe deserved to win. They had everything in their favour \u2013 they played on Tuesday at home, we were playing in Romania on Thursday and then travelling again. We had a good team spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ferguson admitted United were lucky but blamed the energy spent in their Champions League defeat to Real Madrid in midweek for their sloppy second-half display.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cWe are lucky to still be in the FA Cup. It was a terrific save by De Gea. If they had scored then we were out. We ran out of legs. Chelsea were by far the better team in the second half.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Wigan chairman Dave Whelan described a potential Wembley date with Blackburn as a \u201cdream\u201d \u2013 and revealed he may lead the team out himself.<\/p>\n

Whelan played in the 1960 final for Rovers but a broken leg forced him off.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel I\u2019ve got unfinished business at Wembley,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

As a result of yesterday\u2019s semi-final draw, either Wigan, Blackburn or Millwall are likely to take a Europa League place, meaning sixth spot in the Premier League will not qualify for Europe.<\/p>\n
