India\u2019s Supreme Court Thursday asked Italian envoy to India Daniele Mancini not to leave the country till further orders.<\/h1>\n

New Delhi, March 14\/Nationalturk – With Italy and India involved in diplomatic row after former\u2019s refusal to return two Italian marines \u00a0accused of killing two Indian fishermen in Indian waters , India\u2019s Supreme Court Thursday took the fight to Italian camp and asked Italian envoy to India Daniele Mancini not to leave the country.<\/p>\n

The Supreme Court was hearing a petition filed by an advocate and Indian politician Subramanian Swamy. The Apex Court issued a notice to the Italian envoy asking him not to leave the country till further orders.<\/p>\n

The court also issued notice to Italian government and the two marines, accused in the fishermen killing case, to file their reply latest by March 18.<\/p>\n

The Italian envoy to India, who had given the court a written guarantee that the two marines would come back to Delhi by March 22, has to share his response by Monday.<\/p>\n

The Italy\u2019s new government this week informed India that despite its guarantees,\u00a0 the naval officers would not be sent back. The India\u2019s Supreme Court had allowed them four weeks at home to\u00a0 celebrate Easter and vote in the national election, which were held last month.<\/p>\n

Italy\u2019s refusal to return two of its marines- Massimiliano Latorre and Salvatore Girone- accused of killing two Indian fishermen, has triggered a political storm in India with opposition righting wing and left wing parties accusing the government of entering a secret deal to allow the two Italians to go back home.<\/p>\n

Italy has solid reasons to proceed for international arbitration<\/h2>\n

Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi has said the country has jurisdically solid reasons to proceed in the direction of international arbitration in the case. \u201cThe Indian government is amply apprised of all it needs to know about our reasons, as do many of our partners.”<\/p>\n

Earlier, the Italian foreign ministry accused Indian authorities of violating international rights by detaining the naval guards. \u201cWe were open to let an international arbitrator to assess the case,\u201d according to an official statement issued by Italian government.<\/p>\n

Italy claims the shooting took place in international waters; India disagrees and insists that the Italian marines shot dead two Indian fishermen in Indian waters.<\/p>\n
