{"id":36621,"date":"2013-04-15T14:31:47","date_gmt":"2013-04-15T11:31:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/?p=36621"},"modified":"2013-04-15T14:31:47","modified_gmt":"2013-04-15T11:31:47","slug":"mali-conflict-chad-begins-withdrawing-forces-from-mali-africa-news-36621","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/mali-conflict-chad-begins-withdrawing-forces-from-mali-africa-news-36621\/","title":{"rendered":"Mali Conflict: Chad begins withdrawing forces from Mali \/ Africa News"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Chad-Forces-Withdrawing-Mali.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-36626 alignleft\" title=\"Chad-Forces-Withdrawing-Mali\" alt=\"Chad-Forces-Withdrawing-Mali\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Chad-Forces-Withdrawing-Mali.jpg\" width=\"464\" height=\"247\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Chad-Forces-Withdrawing-Mali.jpg 464w, https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Chad-Forces-Withdrawing-Mali-280x149.jpg 280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 464px) 100vw, 464px\" \/><\/a>President Idriss Deby of Chad has said that his country has started pulling out its forces who were on combat mission in Mali.<\/h1>\n<p>This comes after 3 Chadians soldiers were killed in a suicide attack on Friday by militants in the north of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Chad has lost 30 out of the 2,000 soldiers since they joined French Forces in the combat mission against militants who seized Mali in January this year.<\/p>\n<p>President Debby reportedly told French media that the Chadians soldiers lack the skills and tactics to battle the militants who are now counter-attacking both African Union and French forces.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Chadian army does not have the skills to fight a shadowy, guerrilla-style war that is taking place in northern Mali,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Soldiers from Chad, France and other African countries have ousted militants from northern Mali&#8217;s towns but there is still a pocket of resistance from the militants.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have already withdrawn a mechanized battalion, and the rest will follow in subsequent days very soon&#8221;, President Debby added.<\/p>\n<p>Another unconfirmed report from a French media source quoted President Debby as saying that his forces have completed their mission in Mali.<\/p>\n<p>But President Debby admitted that Chad would contribute to a proposed 11,000-strong UN peacekeeping force in Mali.<\/p>\n<p>Many political analysts in Mali believe President Debby fears that he will loose more of his troops in Mali and that necessitated his withdrawal of the troops.<\/p>\n<p>France has also started to withdraw some of its 4,000 soldiers and hopes to have just 1,000 in the country by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>France led the intervention in January, saying the al-Qaeda-linked militants were threatened to march on the capital and use it to destabilize other West African nations.<\/p>\n<p><b>Issaka Adams \/ NationalTurk Africa news<\/b><\/p>\n<!-- Error, Advert is not available at this time due to schedule\/geolocation restrictions!
