{"id":37080,"date":"2013-04-27T11:27:56","date_gmt":"2013-04-27T08:27:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/?p=37080"},"modified":"2013-04-27T11:27:56","modified_gmt":"2013-04-27T08:27:56","slug":"pak-govt-advises-against-taking-musharraf-to-courts-frequently-army-officers-protest-ex-generals-ill-treatment-37080","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/pak-govt-advises-against-taking-musharraf-to-courts-frequently-army-officers-protest-ex-generals-ill-treatment-37080\/","title":{"rendered":"Pak govt advises against taking Musharraf to courts frequently;  Army officers protest ex-General\u2019s ill-treatment"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_37081\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-37081\" style=\"width: 380px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-37081\" alt=\"Former Pakistan military ruler Parvez Musharraf: File Pic\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Musharraf-Pakistan-Nationalturk-27.jpg\" width=\"380\" height=\"285\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Musharraf-Pakistan-Nationalturk-27.jpg 380w, https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/Musharraf-Pakistan-Nationalturk-27-280x210.jpg 280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 380px) 100vw, 380px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-37081\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Former Pakistan military ruler Parvez Musharraf: File Pic<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h1>The Pakistan government has advised law ministry against taking former military ruler Parvez Musharraf, who is presently facing detention, to courts frequently owing to militant threats.<\/h1>\n<p>Islamabad, April 27\/Nationalturk &#8211; After intelligence agencies warned that dreaded militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was planning to kidnap country\u2019s former military ruler Parvez Musharraf, who is under detention at his firm house, the Pakistan government has advised law ministry against taking the former ruler to courts frequently.<\/p>\n<p>According to Pakistan\u2019s newspaper, Express Tribune, Pakistan\u2019s interior ministry has written a letter to the law ministry requesting it to limit former president General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf\u2019s movements outside his farmhouse in Chak Shahzad, Islamabad, where he is facing detention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe militants are planning an attack on the former president,&#8221; the interior ministry said citing intelligence inputs.<\/p>\n<p>Quoting intelligence inputs, the interior ministry advisory has informed law ministry that some militant elements were even planning to kidnap Musharraf while being shifted from farmhouse to court or vice-versa.<\/p>\n<p>Quoting the recent detection of a bomb-ridden vehicle near Musharraf\u2019s house, which has been declared as a sub-jail, the advisory said the militants were planning to target the ex-president with the car.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe former president was facing serious threats and thus as a precautionary measure his movement outside the sub-jail should be limited. Considering the high risk, Musharraf should not be taken out of his farmhouse for court hearings,\u201d the advisory further said.<\/p>\n<p>Musharraf, 69, \u00a0who returned to Pakistan last month after four year self imposed exile, is on the hit list of TTP. The intelligence agencies and police\u2019s intelligence branches have warned that militants were planning to attack and kidnap Musharraf while he is being transferred to court from his farmhouse.<\/p>\n<p>Musharraf returned to Pakistan on March 23 to take part in active politics and contest the May 11 general elections \u00a0but the Election Commission barred him from contesting the elections and the court ordered his arrest in two different cases &#8212;\u00a0 detention of judges in 2007 and assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto. He is also facing charges over the killing of Baloch leader Akbar Bugti in a 2006 military operation. He has been detained in his Chak Shahzad farmhouse which has been declared a sub-jail.<\/p>\n<h2>Army officers protest against ill-treatment of Musharraf<\/h2>\n<p>According to Pakistan newspaper, The Dawn, a group of Pakistan military officers protested yesterday against the humiliating treatment being meted out to former military ruler Pervez Musharraf.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA delegation of 75 officers from Command and Staff College, Quetta, led by Col Saqib Ali Cheema met country\u2019s Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Defence and Defence Production Mushahid Hussain Sayed at the Parliament House and expressed concern over the arrest of the former president,\u201d the newspaper quoted sources as saying.<\/p>\n<p>They said the military officers, who were of the opinion that under the constitution the armed forces could not be criticized, protested against ill-treatment being meted to Musharraf by the authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Hussain agreed with the views of the military officers and said,: \u201cI told the officers that country\u2019s constitution had no provision to let any institution or any person humiliate any other institution\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Some retired army generals and officers including former army chief Mirza Aslam Baig have also strongly criticised the way Musharraf was being treated.<\/p>\n<p>He has said army would not tolerate the developments after a certain level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCertain quarters were encouraging the lawyers against the former military chief.
