Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, who is on a visit to India, has said mutual that mutual trust between China and India was must for regional peace.<\/h1>\n

New Delhi, May 20\/Nationalturk- \u00a0Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang, who arrived on a three-day visit to India yesterday, Monday said mutual trust between China and India was must for regional peace.<\/p>\n

Li, 57, was given guard of honour at India\u2019s presidential house (Rashtrapati Bhavan) this morning. He inspected the guard of honour and was accompanied by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.<\/p>\n

Later talking to media persons Li said, \u201cThe purpose of my current visit to India is three fold — to increase mutual trust, to intensify cooperation and to face the future\u201d.<\/p>\n

Expressing hope that two countries would increase strategic mutual trust, he said, \u201cThe mutual trust between China and India was must for regional peace. The development of prosperity of the world cannot be a reality without the cooperation and simultaneous development of China and India\u201d.<\/p>\n

Li said in the basis of deeper mutual trust, India and China can further deepen their mutual understanding and construct a new type of relations between major countries, promote healthy and sound development. That will be a true blessing for Asia and the world.”<\/p>\n

He said he had most productive session of talks with Indian Prime Minister yesterday. \u201cI expect more bountiful results from further discussions\u201d.<\/p>\n

Li’s first foreign trip<\/h2>\n

Li is on his first foreign trip after becoming Prime Minister of China two months ago.<\/p>\n

He met Indian Prime Minister at his official residence yesterday and exchanged views on contentious boundary dispute, trans-border rivers and trade deficit.<\/p>\n

The meeting between heads of two states assumes significance as it took place a month after a 19-km allegedly incursion by Chinese troops in Depsang valley along Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Indian administered Kashmir. \u00a0The incursion issue was later resolved through talks after both countries agreed to soften stands.<\/p>\n

The LAC between the two countries has never been formally demarcated, although they have signed accords to maintain peace in the region that was the site of a brief Indo-Chinese war in 1962.<\/p>\n

\u2018Visit would cement strategic cooperation\u2019<\/h3>\n

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said China hoped the visit could further cement the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries, strengthen cooperation in such fields as investment, trade and infrastructure, explore complementary advantages, and achieve mutually beneficial results.<\/p>\n

\u201cChina also wants to strengthen communication and coordination with India on international and regional affairs, so as to make greater contribution to peace and stability in the region and the world as a whole,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n

The choice of India as the first stop of Li’s maiden foreign tour indicates the great importance Beijing attaches to its relations with India.<\/p>\n

After India, Chinese PM will visit \u2018all-weather ally\u2019 Pakistan, Switzerland and Germany.<\/p>\n
