A new study has revealed that Israel and Asian nuclear armed foes Pakistan and India are among the most violent countries in the world.<\/h1>\n

New Delhi, June 12\/Nationalturk – Global Peace Index (GPI) Survey 2013 has revealed that Israel and Asian nuclear armed foes Pakistan and India are among the most violent countries in the world.<\/p>\n

The Global Peace Index (GPI), which is the world’s leading measure of global peacefulness produced by the Institute for Economics and Peace, has ranked 162 countries by measuring security in society, extent of conflict and degree of militarisation.<\/p>\n

According to GPI survey, Afghanistan is the most violent country in the world with 162 ranking. \u00a0It is following by Somalia with 161 ranking, Syria with 160 ranking, Iraq with 159 ranking and Sudan with 158 ranking.<\/p>\n

The nuclear armed South Asian Muslim country Pakistan, which has been hit by militancy, has 157 ranking. \u201cIsrael has 150 ranking while Pakistan\u2019s arch rival India has 141st ranking,\u201d GPI survey reveals.<\/p>\n

GPI ranks countries on safety, security levels, etc<\/h2>\n

The GPI ranks the countries on various measures including safety and security levels in the society and national and international conflict of the states.<\/p>\n

It defines a nation at “peace” as being one “not involved in violent conflicts with neighboring states or suffering internal wars” \u2013 which is sometimes called “negative peace” (i.e., absence of war). This is more measurable and can be used as a starting point to identify the attributes of “positive peace” (structures and institutions that create and maintain peace).<\/p>\n

The GPI is a project of the Institute for Economics and Peace, in partnership with the Economist Intelligence Unit and an international team of academics and peace experts.<\/p>\n

According to GPI survey Iceland, Denmark, New Zealand and Austria are top four peaceful nations in the world.<\/p>\n

The findings reveal that while the number and intensity of internal conflicts has risen in recent years, hostility between states has fallen. \u201cHowever, overall, it was found that 110 states have become less peaceful and that 48 have become more so,\u201d added GPI survey.<\/p>\n
