China has introduced \u2018talent introduction visa\u2019 from Monday to woo international talent.<\/h1>\n

Beijing, July 1\/Nationalturk- In order to woo international talent to the country, China has introduced \u2018talent introduction visa\u2019 from Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new exit and entry regulations, which took effect from today, promises more convenience for foreigners travelling to China to work,\u201d officials said.<\/p>\n

They said the \u2018talent introduction visa\u2019 is expected to play an important and active role in attracting high-caliber talented individuals from across the world.<\/p>\n

According to 2010 census, about 594,000 foreigners live in China.<\/p>\n

“We will increase eligibility quota for green cards and consider extending the applicable scope for duty-free entry and multiple-entry visas in order to make China more competitive in soliciting foreign investment and talent,” China\u2019s State news agency Xinhua quoted Yang Huanning, vice minister of public security, as saying.<\/p>\n

The new visa includes a temporary entry system for first time to foreigners, who need to enter the country due to unforeseen circumstances or emergencies.<\/p>\n

\u2018Foreigners must obtain work permit\u2019<\/h2>\n

However, the new law states that foreigners must obtain a work permit and residence certificate before they are allowed to work in China.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt also stipulates that foreigners who make \u2018outstanding contributions\u2019 or meet other requirements can apply for permanent residence,\u201d the officials said.<\/p>\n

The new law states that the minimum stay for foreigners holding work permits will be 90 days, while the period of validity for a residence permit will range from 180 days to five years.<\/p>\n

Officials said the revised law is also aimed at cracking down on foreigners, who work or stay in the country illegally.<\/p>\n

\u2018Foreigners would face action if staying illegally in China\u2019<\/h3>\n

\u201cThe law, for the first time, would detain foreigners between five and 15 days if they were caught residing or working illegally in mainland China,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

\u201cForeigners who illegally stay in the country will be given a warning to leave and face fines of up to 5,000 yuan. In serious cases, they can be fined up to 10,000 yuan or be detained for five to 15 days and then deported. Employers will be fined 10,000 yuan for every foreigner they illegally employ up to a maximum of 100,000 yuan. Any illegal gains resulting from such employment will also be confiscated,\u201d officials further said.<\/p>\n

According to statistics, at least 47,100 foreigners were caught violating the immigration law in China last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt least 54.35 million foreigners traveled to China last year,\u201d officials added.<\/p>\n
