43 year old Missouri lady Madelyn Scheaffer banned by Missouri\u00a0Adventure Oasis\u00a0water park because of \u00a0her figure look verry good with bikini.<\/h1>\n

A 43-year-old woman was asked to leave a community pool because staff deemed her string bikini inappropriate and told her to cover up, it emerged today.<\/span><\/p>\n

Madelyn Sheaffer, from Independence, Missouri, has accused employees at the Adventure Oasis Water Park of discriminating against her because of her fuller figure.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Sheaffer went to the park on Tuesday with four other members of her family. After she got into the pool with her niece and nephew, she was approached by staff who told her she had to put on shorts because her bottoms were too small, she claims.<\/span><\/p>\n

When the supervisor came over at her request, she was told to cover up or leave the park.<\/span><\/p>\n

Madelyn Sheaffer for her part has countered the only reason the\u00a0Adventure Oasis Water Park\u00a0asked her to leave was on account of her fuller figure.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless after getting into the pool, staff approached Madelyn and insisted that she put on shorts because her bottoms were too small.<\/p>\n

Upon demanding to see the supervisor, she was told that if she did not cover up she would have to leave the park.<\/p>\n

\u2018I just felt like I was singled out,\u2019 Sheaffer told 41Action News. \u2019I felt like it was both age and body discrimination and I felt like I could look around me and I could see a handful of other girls half my age, wearing the same size swimming suit and not being singled out and told to put on clothes or leave.\u2019<\/p>\n

When our heroine asked the supervisor to call the police so she could file a complaint, officers arrived and escorted her off the premises. I know isn\u2019t life brutal kids?<\/p>\n

Madelyn Sheaffer would go on to write about the incident on her Facebook page, and claimed that officers sympathized with her.<\/p>\n

\u2018Fifteen minutes later the police did arrive and said that while they did not agree, they had to do their job,\u2019 she wrote.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u201dWe can\u2019t actually say anything\u201d, they said as we walked outside, \u201cbut I hope from the expressions on our face you can tell how we feel\u201d. They were compassionate. They too, thought it was ridiculous.\u2019<\/p>\n

Sheaffer added to her post on Facebook: \u2018This was not a thong. It was a standard, summertime, two piece, string bikini. The same as everyone else, who felt confident enough in their body to wear one.<\/p>\n

\u2018I am a 43-year-old woman who did not have the confidence, or the body, to put on a bikini until was [sic] 40 years old. I will not be discriminated against because I look too good in one.\u2019<\/p>\n

Officials at the Adventure Oasis Water Park had no comment about the incident. Can anyone guess why?<\/p>\n

Incidentally since this story out Madelyn has gone on to mention on her facebook page the following: Honored to say I have received 177 friend requests as a result of my news story yesterday. Not accepting them, but I appreciate the support!<\/p>\n

And then there was this comment on the web that made me wonder:<\/p>\n

Absolutely absurd. Of course this is discrimination! This woman was singled out by individuals who felt she should be ashamed, that she was exposing too much of her flesh. She\u2019s covered up in a manner that is generally accepted at sociologically \u201cnormal\u201d. That other people in charge would attempt to shame her like this is ridiculous. Shame on Adventure Oasis. Although I\u2019ve never been, I\u2019m sure there are many bathing suits that would be considered \u201ctoo much\u201d by many. Maybe I\u2019ll come down with a speedo, see if that\u2019s acceptable. That\u2019s the standard male suit in the vast majority of the world.<\/p>\n
