After intelligence warned of possible terror threat, police in Mumbai, the business capital of India, has sounded high alert \u00a0and security of airports, railway stations, bus stands and crowded places.<\/h1>\n

New Delhi, July 22\/Nationalturk \u2013 Police in Mumbai, the business capital of India, has been put on high alert after intelligence inputs warned of possible terror threat.<\/p>\n

The intelligence agencies have warned about possible terror threat in Mumbail. \u201cThe alert was issued following a series of terror threats that were made to the country’s commercial capital, which had also seen a number of attacks in the last two decades,\u201d police sources said.<\/p>\n

They said after the advisory by intelligence agencies, Police has sounded a high alert in Mumbai, which witnessed major terror strike in 2008 in which over 160 people were killed.<\/p>\n

Sources said alert has been sounded at airports, railway stations, bus stands and crowded places.<\/p>\n

Policemen directed to increase surveillance<\/h2>\n

\u201cPolicemen and officers have been directed to increase surveillance of malls, hospitals, schools and other public places. The cops have been asked to intensify patrolling in and around hotels, malls and public places,\u201d sources said adding all police stations in the city have been told to increase patrolling in their jurisdiction.<\/p>\n

A senior government official said government has issued an advisory to all airports across the country asking them to take precautionary measures in the wake of the intelligence inputs, which warned of possible militant attacks or hijacking of aircraft in the run up to India’s 68th Independence Day next month.<\/p>\n

Media reports said police have issued guidelines for malls and multiplexes. \u201cUnder these guidelines, armed private security guards should be around the malls. There should be ID cards with biometric features for all employees of malls and their background should be checked in every three years and the police should be informed about it\u201d.<\/p>\n

Hospitals asked to deploy securitymen at every floor<\/h3>\n

Police officials have also asked hospitals in the Mumbai city to deploy additional security men at every floor. \u201cThe hospitals have also been directed to make record of everyone staying within the hospital premises\u201d.<\/p>\n

Sources said advisory have also been issued to hoteliers in the business capital of India. \u201cThe hoteliers have been asked to install road blockers\/steel bollards\/boom barriers to prevent entry of suspected vehicles\u201d.<\/p>\n

The hoteliers have also been asked to upgrade CCTVs and preserve the CCTV footage for at least 30 days.<\/p>\n

\u201cBesides, police have also installed new CCTVs at many sensitive places to keep watch on the movement of people. The security apparatus across Mumbai has been tightened to prevent any terror attack,\u201d sources said.<\/p>\n
