{"id":42279,"date":"2013-08-30T10:13:13","date_gmt":"2013-08-30T07:13:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/?p=42279"},"modified":"2013-08-30T11:55:32","modified_gmt":"2013-08-30T08:55:32","slug":"india-launches-first-military-satellite-successfully-42279","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/india-launches-first-military-satellite-successfully-42279\/","title":{"rendered":"India launches first military satellite successfully"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_42280\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-42280\" style=\"width: 295px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-42280\" alt=\"India's launches first military satellite.\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Military-Satellite-India-Nationalturk-30.jpg\" width=\"295\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Military-Satellite-India-Nationalturk-30.jpg 295w, https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/Military-Satellite-India-Nationalturk-30-280x189.jpg 280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 295px) 100vw, 295px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-42280\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">India&#8217;s launches first military satellite.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h1>In a significant development, India has successfully launched its first military satellite (GSAT-7) into orbit.<\/h1>\n<p>New Delhi, Aug 30\/Nationalturk \u2013 In yet another giant leap, India successfully launched its first military satellite (GSAT-7) into orbit and joined a select group of five countries having such capability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBuilt by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the military satellite was launched during a 50-minute launch window starting 0200 hours from Kourou in South America using a French-made Ariane rocket,\u201d officials said.<\/p>\n<p>They said after a flight of almost 34 minutes, the 2.5 tonne satellite was injected into a Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) of 249 km perigee (nearest point to earth), 35,929 km apogee (farthest point to earth) and an inclination of 3.5 degree with respect to the equator.<\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Satellite will prove beneficial for Indian Navy\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Officials said Rs 185 crore GSAT-7 will prove beneficial for Indian Navy. \u201cIt will transform the capabilities of Indian Navy, allowing it to communicate with its fleet across Indian Ocean through a top-secret encrypted system\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>They said navy ships will be able to exchange data about the precise location of \u2018enemy ships and submarines\u2019. \u201cIn the process, each ship in the fleet will have a comprehensive digital map of the position of friendly forces and enemy forces. The frequency bands of GSAT-7 will help space-based marine communications.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018India joins select group of five countries\u2019<\/h3>\n<p>With the launch of military satellite, India has joined a select club of countries including US, Russian, France, Britain and China that have dedicated military communication satellites.<\/p>\n<p>An ISRO officials said the frequency bands of GSAT-7 will help space-based marine communications.
