The controversial leader and chief minister of Indian state of Gujarat Narendra Modi was nominated as candidate for Prime Minister\u2019s post by rightwing Hindu party BJP.<\/h1>\n

New Delhi, Sept 13\/Nationalturk – \u00a0The rightwing Hindu party BJP Friday chose party\u2019s controversial leader and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as party\u2019s candidate for Prime Minister\u2019s post in 2014 polls.<\/p>\n

“BJP has a tradition of declaring its candidate for PM. The party\u2019s parliamentary party board has decided that Narendra Modi will be our prime ministerial candidate for 2014 polls,” BJP president Rajnath Singh told reporters this evening.<\/p>\n

He said the party had also announced its Prime Ministerial candidate in 2009 elections well before the polls.<\/p>\n

\u2018Advani skipped BJP\u2019s parliamentary board meeting\u2019<\/h2>\n

The decision to name Modi as party\u2019s PM candidate was taken in a meeting of BJP’s parliament board – top decision makers. However, party\u2019s senior-most leader and former Deputy Prime Minister of India L K Advani was not present in the party\u2019s parliamentary board meeting.<\/p>\n

Sources said the meeting of 12-member BJP\u2019s parliamentary Board was attended by leaders like Sushma Swaraj, Murli Manohar Joshi, Arun Jaitley and Nitin Gadkari.<\/p>\n

Modi will turn 63 next Tuesday. He has already said he will work tirelessly to ensure that BJP wins the 2014 elections and comes to power.<\/p>\n

The veteran BJP leader Advani has opposed naming of Modi as party\u2019s Prime ministerial candidate. Modi is held responsible for 2002 riots in Indian state of Gujarat in which over thousand Muslims were killed.<\/p>\n

\u2018Advani wrote a letter to BJP president\u2019<\/h3>\n

Ahead of the today\u2019s key meeting of BJP\u2019s parliamentary board, disgruntled L K Advani had wrote a letter to party chief and expressed his anguish over the way things are happening in the party.<\/p>\n

“This afternoon when you had come to my residence to inform me about the Parliamentary Board meeting, I had said something about my anguish as also my disappointment over your style of functioning,” he said in the letter.<\/p>\n

Advani said he decided not to attend the Parliamentary Board as he thought it was “better”.<\/p>\n

“I had told you that I will think whether I should share my thoughts with other Board members or not. Now, I have decided that it is better that I do not attend today’s meeting,” he added.<\/p>\n
