Pakistan\u2019s religious leaders have termed killing of innocent non-Muslims as un-Islamic and asked government to bring perpetrators of recent attack on church to justice.<\/h1>\n

Islamabad, Sept 24\/Nationalturk \u2013 Terming Sunday\u2019s suicide bombings on church in Peshawar in which 83 people, including children and women, were killed as terrorist act, Pakistan\u2019s religious leaders have said killing innocent minority members was un-Islamic.<\/p>\n

\u201cIslam does not allow killing of innocent non-Muslims,\u201d Sunni Muslim group – Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) spokesman Nawaz Kharal said.<\/p>\n

He said a decree was issued by 30 religious leaders, which termed the attack not only un-Islamic but a criminal act and a major sin. \u201cIslam does not allow attacks on innocent minorities and makes it mandatory to protect their lives and property.\u201d<\/p>\n

The decree said it was duty of the government to provide security and protection to minorities. \u201cIslam teaches that places of worship of non-Muslims should not be demolished or damaged,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n

\u2018In Islam, murder of human being amounts to murder of humanity\u2019<\/h2>\n

It said those who attacked Christians in Peshawar in Pakistan\u2019s restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province had \u201cmutilated the face of Islam\u201d. \u201cIn Islam murder of an innocent human being is the murder of the entire humanity,\u201d the decree said.<\/p>\n

The decree further said while Pakistan government was making peace overtures, militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) continued their terrorist activities, most recently with the bombing of a Peshawar church.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government without receiving any assurances from Taliban have released many terrorists. Talking to militants who had killed hundreds of Pakistanis amounts to rubbing salt on the wounds of the bereaved,\u201d it further said.<\/p>\n

The decree urged Pakistan government to bring the perpetrators of the Peshawar church attack to book. \u201cThey \u00a0hav\u00eb also violated constitution of the country which guaranteed complete protection to the minorities.<\/p>\n

Sunni Ittehad Council will oppose talks with TTP<\/h3>\n

SIC chairman Hamid Raza Rizvi said the organisation would continue to oppose talks with TTP militants. \u201cWe condemn all acts of terrorism and would continue to do so. While Taliban were seeking guarantees before dialogue in the form of prisoner releases, they were not even prepared to guarantee a ceasefire during the talks,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

A splinter group affiliated with TTP has claimed responsibility for Sunday’s suicide bombing on church in Peshawar.<\/p>\n

Pakistan\u2019s prominent religious scholars Maulana Muhammad Taqi Usmani, Maulana Saleemullah, Dr Abdul Razzaq Sikandar and Maulana Muhammad Rafi Usmani of Deobandi thought issued a joint statement in which they condemned the suicide bombing on church in Peshawar.<\/p>\n

Terming the attack against the teachings of Quran and Sunnah, they said, \u201cIslamic Shariah gives full rights of protection to the life and property of all citizens without any distinction of religion. Islam has even defined strict punishments for those who do not honour the right of protection to life and property of any citizen.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Religious places can\u2019t be attacked even during Jehad\u2019<\/h4>\n

The religious leaders said even during the course of \u2018announced Jihad\u2019, nobody is allowed to attack religious or worship places of any religion. \u201cIn the presence of all these teachings and orders of Islam, such attacks using the name of the religion are meant to defame the religion of Islam and the Muslims\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo doubt thousands of Muslims, including women and children, have been killed in US drone attacks in Pakistan \u00a0but innocent citizens can never be attacked to avenge the drone attacks. It is illogical to state that such attacks to kill innocent citizens are carried out in retaliation against the drone attacks,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen leader Nasir Sherazi said terrorists were targeting everyone including Sunnis and Shias.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe attacks continue despite government\u2019s talks about peace. Muslim leaders must speak out against acts of terrorism carried out in the name of jihad\u201d.<\/p>\n

Several other prominent religious leaders have also condemned the suicide bombing on church and termed it a terrorist act.<\/p>\n
