Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif and US president Obama will meet next week.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will begin his five-day visit to United States on Sunday and is expected to meet US president Barack Hussain Obama, vice president Biden, Secretary of State John Kerry and other US leaders.<\/h1>\n

Islamabad, Oct 19\/Nationalturk- Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will begin his five-day visit to United States on tomorrow (Sunday) and is expected to meet US president Barack Hussain Obama\u00a0 next week.<\/p>\n

\u201cPM Nawaz Sharif will undertake an official visit to US from October 20 to 23. This will be the first bilateral official visit of the Prime Minister to the United States in his present term. It will also the first official visit of a Prime Minister to the United States in five years,\u201d Pakistan\u2019s Foreign Office spokesman said.<\/p>\n

He said Nawaz will meet US President Barack Obama next week and hold wide ranging talks with him.<\/p>\n

This will be the first meeting of the two leaders. The two leaders had a telephone conversation in May 2013, when Obama congratulated Nawaz on his party\u2019s victory in general election in Pakistan.<\/p>\n

Nawaz will also meet Biden, Kerry, others<\/h2>\n

The Foreign office spokesman said PM Nawaz will also meet US vice president Biden. \u201cHe will also interact with key senior US administration officials including Secretary of State John Kerry as well as Congressional leaders on the Capitol Hill\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe PM will attend a business event organized by US-Pakistan Business Council, address the United States Institute of Peace and interact with the Pakistani-American community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Ahead of PM\u2019s visit, US States has released an outstanding amount of $322 million as reimbursement from the Coalition Support Funds.<\/p>\n

Share his views on 2014 Afghan transition, drone strikes<\/h3>\n

Nawaz is likely to share his vision for peace and stability in the region and his government\u2019s policy on ways to comprehensively address the menace of violent extremism. \u00a0\u201cHe may raise Pakistan\u2019s views in the regional security perspective, particularly in view of 2014 Afghan transition and its implications of the developments in the country,\u201d political observers said.<\/p>\n

They said Pakistan PM is also expected to take up the issue of controversial drone strikes the US carries out against suspected militants hiding in Pakistan\u2019s tribal areas along the Afghan border.<\/p>\n

Pakistan PM is also expected to call for expansion in trade and economic areas and making such cooperation the defining foundation for an enduring relationship in view of the repeated ups and downs in the ties in the past decades.<\/p>\n

Sharif may use the trip to seek help for his country’s ailing economy and dysfunctional energy sector.<\/p>\n

Political observers said India-Pakistan ties may also figure during talks between Nawaz Sharif and Obama in White House. The two countries have been accusing each other of violation of border ceasefire, which has been in effect from November 2007.<\/p>\n
