Pakistan\u2019s secular party Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has demanded imposition of ban on religious party Jamaat-e-Islami for its alleged links to Taliban and Alqaeda.<\/h1>\n

Islamabad, Dec 4\/Nationalturk \u2013 Pakistan\u2019s secular party Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has demanded ban on religious party Jamaat-e-Islami for its alleged links to Taliban and Alqaeda. However, the religious party has denied the charge and said it is law abiding party.<\/p>\n

\u201cPakistan government should ban Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and try its leaders under Article 6 of the Constitution for its involvement in terrorist activities and having links with al-Qaeda and Taliban,\u201d said MQM chief Altaf Hussain while addressing party workers in port city of Karachi via video-link from London.<\/p>\n

Hussain lives in self exile in London.<\/p>\n

He asked the government and armed forces to take action against JeI and its all wings for supporting terrorists.<\/p>\n

JeI chief had declared slain TTP chief as \u2018martyr\u2019<\/h2>\n

Jamaat-e-Islami chairman Munawar Hussain Shah was recently in news for declaring slain Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Hakeemullah Meshud as \u201cmartyr\u201d. Hakeemullah was killed in a US drone attack in Pakistan\u2019s tribal areas on November 1, 2013.<\/p>\n

Hussain said several active workers of JeI and its student wing have been killed in US drone attacks in Waziristan. \u201cThe most wanted terrorists Dr Arshad Waheed, Kashif Hussain, Sanaullah, Shabbir Hussain, Tanveer-ul-Islam, Zuhair Imtiaz Qidwai and Abdur Rehman Shujaat belonged to the JeI and were killed in drone attacks.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA well-known terrorist Terins Jac Thompson, who was arrested from Karachi airport in January, had confessed that he had taken shelter at the home of JeI activists. The mastermind of 9\/11 attack in America Khalid Shaikh Muhammad had also been arrested from the home of a JeI activist from Rawalpindi,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n

Referring to recent turmoil in a University in Punjab province, Hussain said weapons recovered from students affiliated with JeI student wing were being portrayed as \u201cplastic toys.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018JeI is law abiding party\u2019<\/h3>\n

A spokesman of Jamaat-e-Islami rejected MQM chief\u2019s allegations and claimed that history of MQM was filled with \u201cterrorism\u201d, human bodies packed in gunny bags and target killings.<\/p>\n

He alleged that MQM terrorists were involved in the target killing of the army, Rangers and police personnel.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sacrifices of JeI and its student wing workers for defence of the country were countless and part of history. JeI is a peaceful and law-abiding party and working according to the Constitution of country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He further said JeI was a law-abiding organisation doing politics. \u201cJeI had never any association with the Taliban or Al-Qaeda\u201d.<\/p>\n
