He gives us the latest on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan\u2019s future with Manchester United keen on signing the talented German-Turkish.<\/p>\n

Manchester United are ready to make a \u00a324million bid to land Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.<\/p>\n

Manchester United boss David Moyes is an admirer of \u00a0IlkayGundogan and is keen to land the 23-year-old Germany international this month.<\/p>\n

Although Gundogan has not played for the Bundesliga side side since August because of a back injury, that has not the Red Devils off pursuing him.<\/p>\n

It is understood that Gundogan\u2019s representatives have held talks with United, who are desperate to bolster their midfield options.<\/p>\n

Michael Zorc, the club\u2019s sporting director, has now asked for some clarity on Ilkay Gundogan future, with his current deal set to expire in 2015. He said he is \u2018not fond of ultimatums,\u2019\u00a0and that\u00a0the \u2018other party needs to understand\u2019\u00a0he cannot wait for Gundogan\u00a0to make a decision. \u2018Our top priority is to find out if there is a willingness to prolong the contract,\u2019\u00a0he went on to say.<\/p>\n

Aki Watzke, Borussia Dortmund\u2019s CEO,\u00a0has reiterated this point, claiming that a \u2018timely decision\u2019 is needed by the player.<\/p>\n

The player claims that his attention, for now, is on recovering from his injury, and not a potential \u00a325m move.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m still having pain,\u2019 he said.\u00a0\u2019I am not top fit just yet and I\u2019m not completely pain free at the moment. I still have pain in my hip, calf and shin.\u00a0My main objective is to get fully healthy again. Once I\u2019ve achieved that, I want to give my all again.\u2019<\/p>\n

David Moyes has repeatedly conceded that it is difficult to sign players in January but what is likely to make the deal for Ilkay Gundogan even more difficult is Real Madrid\u2019s reported interest. They also have Nuri Sahin out on loan at the German club and could use him as a bargaining tool in the deal.<\/p>\n

Given Woodward\u2019s incompetence in the market last time the transfer window was open, Manchester United fans obviously won\u2019t be holding their breath, but a player of\u00a0Gundogan\u2019s quality could make all the difference to what has been, so far, a dreadful season.<\/p>\n

Ilkay Gundogan still has 18 months remaining on his contract with Dortmund and has been urged by them to make up his mind over his future.<\/p>\n
