Undercover journalistic work by Ghana\u2019s best undercover journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas has led to the arrest of two Chinese nationals in Ghana who pose as job recruiters to lure women from South-East Asia to Ghana, promising them of high-paying jobs.<\/h1>\n

The prostitute syndicates were busted in the Ghanaian city of Takoradi in the Western part of the country, just on the coast of the Atlantic where Ghana\u2019s oil reserve is located.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span><\/span>Crusading Guide <\/i><\/span><\/span>Newspaper reported that Ana\u2019s undercover work also led to the rescue of six Vietnamese women who the Chinese nationals recruited to Ghana on the pretext of finding them jobs but ended up forcing them into prostitution. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Newspaper said intelligence information on the activities of the traffickers was first circulated by the International Police Agency and given to Anas Aremeyaw Anas to investigate.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The US embassy and the UK High Commission in Ghana were said to have also assisted in the investigation too.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Local media say the women forced into the prostitution were given fake names as Hung, 32, Bian, 29, Anh, 35, Hoa, 31, Thi, 38, and Mai, 38, by the Chinese nationals and have been in Ghana over a year now.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Anas Aremeyaw Anas then disguised himself as John Sullivan from America and working at the oil rig for Tullow Oil Ghana, went to the traffickers and requested the services of two of the ladies.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Having established that these women were being hired out to clients who had the option of either spending time with them at the guest house or taking them to another location and returning them on an agreed date or time, he made payments and requested to take the ladies to a hotel which was agreed by the traffickers. A team of Ghanaian police personnel were already waiting for them at the hotel.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The two ladies assigned to Aremeyaw Anas were dressed in exceedingly small tight with fitting tops and hot pants. They each had a purse and mobile phone.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Upon arrival at the hotel room, Anas and some of the investigators who were waiting for them at the hotel managed despite the language barrier to seek answers to questions surrounding their coming to Ghana and the kind of work they were doing.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It turned out that as uncomfortable as they felt about the job they were doing, they had no option because they were far away from Vietnam with no money and without access to their travel documents. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After these revelations, one of them went into the washroom to prepare to serve her client. The police team around the hotel premises was immediately signaled to come in. She returned from the washroom with only a towel wrapped around her only to be accosted by police who requested that she get back into her clothes. With that the stage was set to swoop in on the traffickers.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The traffickers were then arrested and handed over to the police for further investigations. The Chinese embassy in Ghana has not comment on the issues.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Chinese nationals in Ghana and Africa in general have been involved in various scandals, ranging from illegal mining activities to supplying fake drugs among others.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Last year, Ghana repatriated more than 120 Chinese nationals who were found to have been in the country illegally and involved in illegal activities.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Anas Aremeyaw Anas, a product of the Ghana Institute of Journalism is known for disguising himself in his works which all bother on serious Human Rights violation by the culprits. He has won many both local and international awards as a result of his works.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
