In a tragic road \u00a0accident, 40 people were killed when two passenger coaches and two trucks collided on Quetta-Karachi highway in Pakistan on Saturday.<\/h1>\n

Islamabad, March 22\/Nationalturk \u2013 At least 40 people were killed when two passenger coaches and two trucks collided on Quetta-Karachi highway in Pakistan on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Officials said the accident took place at around 0500 hours when two speedy buses collided with a truck coming from opposite direction near Gadani Mor on Quetta-Karachi RCD Highway in Balochistan province.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the collision the vehicles caught fire which caused casualties. The truck was carrying diesel which caused the spontaneous burning of the vehicles,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

Passenger bus collided with a truck<\/h2>\n

District Police Officer (DPO) Ahmed Nawaz Cheema was quoted as saying by Pakistan newspaper, The Express Tribune that the passenger bus tried to overtake a vehicle and collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction. \u201cThere was a huge explosion after the collision as the bus was carrying oil\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said at the same time another passenger bus coming to Karachi from Quetta collided with another truck at the same place.<\/p>\n

Officials said 38 people were killed and 15 others critically injured in the accident. \u201cThe injured were rushed to hospitals, where two of them later succumbed to injuries\u201d.<\/p>\n

They said women and children were among the dead.<\/p>\n

Doctors at Jam Qadir Hospital said few bodies brought to their hospital were found charred and unidentified.<\/p>\n

Death toll may rise<\/h3>\n

A senior government official said the death toll may rise as many injured have suffered critical burn injuries.<\/p>\n

He said the deceased were heading for Karachi from different parts of Balochistan.<\/p>\n

A spokesman of Balochistan government Jan Mohammed Buledi said the government will probe the incident and compensate the victim families.<\/p>\n
