March 2014, which was 4.5 per higher than the corresponding period last year.<\/h1>\n<p>New Delhi, April 9\/Nationalturk \u2013 In a good news for Indian tourism industry, at least 0.6 million foreign tourists visited India in March 2014, which was 4.5 per higher than the corresponding period last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cForeign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) in India in March, 2014 was 0.66 million. \u00a0It was 0.64 million in March 2013 and 0.60 millions in March 2012,\u201d an official of Indian Tourism Ministry said.<\/p>\n<p>He said there has been a growth of 4.5% in March 2014 over March 2013 as compared to a\u00a0 growth of 5.5%\u00a0 registered\u00a0 in March 2013 over March\u00a0 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The official said during the period January-March 2014, 2.12 million foreign tourists have visited the country, which is 4.9% higher as compared to foreign tourist arrivals of 2.02 million during\u00a0 January-March 2013.<\/p>\n<h2>Negative growth in foreign exchange earnings<\/h2>\n<p>The tourism official said Foreign Exchange Earnings in terms of US dollar during the month of March 2014 were US$ 1.679 billion as compared to US$ 1.757 billion during\u00a0 March 2013 and US$ 1.559 billion in March\u00a0 2012.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe growth rate in Foreign Exchange Earnings in US dollar terms in March 2014 over March 2013 was negative growth of 4.4% as compared to the growth of 12.7% in\u00a0 March 2013 over March\u00a0 2012,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The official said foreign exchange earnings from tourism in terms of US$ during January-March 2014 were US$ 5.308 billion with a negative growth of 5.0%, as compared to US$ 5.587 billion with a growth of 12.4% during\u00a0 January-March 2013 over the corresponding period of 2012.<\/p>\n<p>He said Ministry of Tourism compiles monthly estimates of Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) on the basis of the FTAs data at major ports and Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) from tourism on the basis of data available from
