Pakistan\u2019s government has decided to conduct a survey in country\u2019s seminaries on enrolment of foreign students.<\/h1>\n

Islamabad, April 29\/Nationalturk \u2013 In order to maintain vigilance on foreigners arriving in country to go religious education, Pakistan\u2019s government has decided to conduct a survey in country\u2019s seminaries on enrolment of foreign students.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Pakistan government is going to conduct a survey in country\u2019s seminaries to ascertain the exact number of foreign students studying in such seminaries,\u201d a top government official said.<\/p>\n

He said survey is not limited to foreign students but data on the number of teachers and students at these schools is also being collected.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been told not to consider refugees with legal Identity Cards as foreigners but everyone else will be dealt as an outsider,\u201d said an official.<\/p>\n

He said they are mainly focusing on students, who are staying illegally in the country.<\/p>\n

\u2018Foreign students staying illegally to be traced\u2019<\/h2>\n

\u201cIn past, dozens of foreigners used to come to Pakistan, especially the Federally Administer Tribal Areas (Fata) to pursue religious education and whereabouts of many of them were not known later,\u201d the official said, adding this process is to keep a check on foreign students and also tracing those foreign students, who are illegally staying in the country.<\/p>\n

The officials said the survey in the first phase is being carried out in restive Peshawar city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. \u201cAfterwards, survey will be held in seminaries in other parts of the country also\u201d.<\/p>\n

Pakistan trying to block flight of fighters to Syria<\/h3>\n

Pakistan newspaper, The Nation, quoting sources reported that Pakistan security agencies have launched an operation in tribal areas to block flight of foreign fighters to Syria.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe foreign fighters to be rounded up during the operation will be deported to the countries of their origin under the Foreign Act. However, those found having links with al-Qaeda are most likely to be kept in detention,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

They said that security services were making efforts to reach the foreign fighters through the local tribesmen who are willing to return to their home country. \u201cThe prime target of the operation was to make all possible bids to stop the flight of foreign fighters to Syria\u201d.<\/p>\n
