A deadly twin bombs have exploded near a crowded market in the central Nigerian city of Jos on Tuesday afternoon, killing more than 120 people.<\/h1>\n

he city of Jos is the capital of Plateau State which lies in the central belt of Nigeria linking the south to the north where Boko Haram militants have been carrying out deadly attacks.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The city has seen several deadly clashes between Christian and Muslim groups in recent years and Boko Haram has also previously attack the area.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

An unnamed military official told the Agence France-Presse News Agency that one bomb had been placed in a truck and another in a minibus which exploded simultaneously.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

National Emergency Management Agency Coordinator for the city of Jos, Mohammed Abdulsalam told reporters that they have recovered 120 bodies and said more bodies could still be recovered. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“We’ve now recovered 120 bodies from the rubble of buildings destroyed by the explosions and more bodies might be recovered again, it was a devastated attack\u2019\u2019, he said.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This attack comes as the Nigerian government with international support is currently trying to trace more than 200 girls captured by Boko Haram in April from a boarding school in the north-eastern town of Chibok.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

President Goodluck Jonathan has said that he was committed to fighting terrorism despite criticism that he has failed to ensure security in Nigeria.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Jonathan said those who carried out the attack were cruel and evil and the country would continue to fight them.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“The government remains fully committed to winning the war against terror and will not be cowed by the atrocities of enemies of human progress and civilization,” the office of the President said in a statement.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The President also announced increased measures to tackling Boko Haram, including a multinational force around Lake Chad which comprises a battalion each from Chad, Niger, Cameroon and Nigeria.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

France hosted a summit with African leaders in Paris last weekend and agreed to wage war on Boko Haram, pledging to share intelligence and co-ordinate action against the group.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The French President, Francois Hollande called Boko Haram a major threat to West and Central Africa and called all leaders around the world to help tackle them.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But political analysts in Nigeria say Boko Haram seems to be making mockery with the involvement of the international community by stepping up their attacks. Five people were killed and dozens left injured in northern city of Kano on Monday just after the summit in Paris.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

More than 7,000 people have been killed while dozens and dozens of people have been left injured since Boko Haram began their militancy in 2009.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
