The Malian government has said that at least two people have been killed while have 15 escaped after a suspected militant detainee shot his way out of the main jail in the capital, Bamako on Monday.<\/h1>\n

The jail breaker was said to be a detainee accused of kidnapping and belonging to terrorist groups and was arrested during the time of instability in 2013.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

An anonymous prison guard said the jail breaker took advantage of plumbers accessing some of the rooms of the prison and started shooting at guards randomly.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It unclear how he became armed in detention but the government has warned citizens that the he is a dangerous terrorist and people should volunteer information leading to his re capture.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

A senior Justice Ministry official was quoted by the Reuters African Service as saying that 23 prisoners had initially escaped but eight were later recaptured. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Local reporters say the dead included a guard and one of the prisoners who tried to escape with the jail breaker in the process but was shot by prison guards.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But before this announcement by the Malian government, on Monday afternoon, gunfire was heard in the main suburb of the capital raising fears in many residents.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

French and United Nations troops have been deployed in Mali after a coup d\u2019\u00e9tat by Amadou Sanogo triggered occupation of the country by an al Qaeda-linked Islamists in 2012.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Mali has witness two years of political instability since militants, mostly from the north of the country took advantage of the 2012 coup to seize vast areas in the north of the country.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But French troops have been able to drive the al Qaeda-linked militants from their strongholds in the north of the country, paving way for general elections in which Mr. Ibrahim Boubacar Keita was elected as President.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But the country is not united as some ethnic faction called the Tuareg people in the northern town of Kidal and its surroundings are calling for total independence from Mali.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Mali’s army suffered a heavy defeat in fighting with the Tuareg separatist last month but the government has said that it is determine to unite the country despite these challenges.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
