Pakistan\u2019s two politicians Imran Khan and cleric Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri, who are leading anti-government marches, \u00a0on Saturday asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to resign.<\/h1>\n

Islamabad, Aug 16\/Nationalturk: With the marches called by Pakistan\u2019s two top politicians Imran Khan and cleric Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri reaching country\u2019s capital Islamabad, the opposition leaders have asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to resign, saying \u201che has no option other than it\u201d.<\/p>\n

Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan has called for \u201cFreedom march\u201d while cleric-cum-politician Dr Tahir-ul-Qadr has called for \u201cRevolution march\u201d to oust government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Nawaz Sharif\u2019s PML-N won the general elections in country in May last year.<\/p>\n

After initially refusing to allow the marches by deploying over 35,000 police and paramilitary forces in the capital, Pakistan government allowed the Imran Khan\u2019s party Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) and Dr Qadri\u2019s party Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) to go ahead with their marches.<\/p>\n

Both PTI and PAT launched their marches on August 14 and both marches are likely to reach the capital Islamabad by this evening.<\/p>\n

Khan, Qadri calling for ouster of PM Nawaz\u2019s govt<\/h2>\n

Khan and Qadri are not officially allied but both are calling for the ouster of a government they condemn as corrupt, which came to power after a sweeping general election victory for the party of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif last year.<\/p>\n

Tens of thousands of people are participating in the marches of Imran Khan and Qadri.<\/p>\n

While addressing his supporters and workers on way to Islamabad, Imran demanded resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.<\/p>\n

Won\u2019t leave Islamabad till Nawaz regins: Imran<\/h3>\n

\u201cThere is no democracy to derail and I will not leave until the re-election is announced and Nawaz Sharif announces resignation,\u201d he said and asked Sharif to resign and announce re-election.<\/p>\n

Imran said Nawaz should not be scared of holding re-elections if he has won fairly. \u201cWhy is he scared. We won\u2019t accept rigged elections,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

After PML-N won 2013 elections, Imran has been repeatedly alleging that there was rigging and has accused country\u2019s former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhary of being involved in the rigging.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe went to Election Tribunals and Supreme Court, but no relief was accorded,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Imran said his party will stage indefinite sit-in in Islamabad from today. \u201cWe won\u2019t leave the capital until true freedom is achieved for the people of Pakistan.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Qadri’s rally bigger than PTI\u2019<\/h3>\n

Senior leader of PM Nawaz\u2019s PML-N Rana Sanaullah said Dr Qadri\u2019s rally is far bigger than PTI.<\/p>\n

Reacting to PTI’s demand to unseat Nawaz Sharif, Rana said Imran Khan was rearing to become the premier of Pakistan. \u201cNo one can assume this office by organizing a mass rally alone. Hence, holding a large public gathering makes no difference\u201d.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, reports said PAT chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri has fallen ill and opted for rest.<\/p>\n

He is scheduled to address his supporters near their approved rally spot near Aabpara Market on Khayaban-e-Suharwardy in Islamabad, where he is likely to spell charter of demands.<\/p>\n

The PAT workers in Khayaban-e-Suharwardy were busy making preparations for the rally.<\/p>\n

\u201cPAT revolution march peacefully enters Islamabad. We have remained true to our promise of being peaceful,\u201d the PAT chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri said adding through peaceful means the people of Pakistan will end the rule of the corrupt rulers and end the corrupt system.<\/p>\n
