File pic<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h1>Indian government has delinked hotel classification from liquor service.<\/h1>\n<p>New Delhi, Aug 25\/Nationalturk \u2013 Indian government has delinked hotel classification from liquor service, thus fulfilling the long pending demand of hotel industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsidering the long standing demand of Hotel industry, Tourism Ministry has taken a step for classifying 4 Star, 5 Star hotels in non-Heritage sector and Classic category Hotels in Heritage sector without insisting on the presence of a bar that serves alcohol on the premises,\u201d India\u2019s Minister of State for Tourism Shripad Naik said.<\/p>\n<p>As per the new guidelines, hotels in categories of 5 Star and 4 Star in non-Heritage sector and Classic category Hotels in Heritage sector can now be classified as \u201c5 Star with alcohol service\u201d, \u201c5 Star without alcohol service\u201d, \u201c4 Star with alcohol service\u201d, \u201c4 Star without alcohol service\u201d, \u201cClassic Heritage with alcohol service\u201d and \u201cClassic Heritage without alcohol service\u201d.<\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Alcohol service was essential for Hotel classification\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>At present, Indian Tourism Ministry classifies various hotels on voluntary request in the categories of 1 Star, 2 Star, 3 Star, 4 Star, 5 Star and 5 Star Deluxe in non-Heritage sector and in the categories of Basic, Classic and Grand in the Heritage sector.
