\"Ebola<\/a><\/h1>\n

Guinean officials have confirmed that a team of Ebola campaign who went missing on Tuesday has been found dead in a village where the deadly disease was first reported in the country.<\/h1>\n

The team was made up of three doctors and three journalists and they disappeared after being pelted with stones by residents when they arrived in the village of Wome.<\/p>\n

The Guinean government said that their bodies had been recovered from the septic tank of a primary school building, confirming that the victims had been killed in cold blood by local residents in the village.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The reason for their killing was unclear but local reporters say some villagers in Guinea have been scared by the appearance of health workers trying to combat the disease. There have been rumors in the past that health workers were deliberately contaminated people with the disease.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Guinean government has said that the bodies have been sent back to the capital, Conakry for further investigation to be carried out.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Riots erupted in the area where the health team was killed last month after rumors went viral that medics who were disinfecting a market were contaminating people with Ebola in the area.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In Sierra Leone today, a three-day curfew has been declared by the government to try and stop the disease. The curfew starts today with everybody staying indoors.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The government says it is an opportunity for health workers to go from house-to-house to educate people on how the disease can be prevented.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But the international medical charity group, Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) has strongly criticized the lockdown, saying that it will even help spread the disease.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Quarantines and lockdowns end up driving people underground and jeopardizing the trust between people and health providers, this leads to the concealment of potential cases and ends up spreading the disease further”, MSF said in a statement.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The United Nations Security Council on Thursday declared that the Ebola outbreak is a threat to international peace and security.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It therefore unanimously adopted a resolution calling on nations to provide more resources to help combat the disease.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

More than 2,600 people have now died from the Ebola outbreak in West Africa and the World Health Organization has warned that more than 20,000 people could be infected by the disease.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

According to health experts, Ebola Symptoms include high fever, bleeding and breakdown of central nervous system. The disease is said to spread by body fluids, such as blood or saliva.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Fatality rate is said to be around 90% but current outbreak have mortality rate of about 55% and incubation period is 2 to 21 days. There is no proven vaccine or cure as at now but supportive care such as rehydrating patients who have diarrhea and vomiting can help recovery.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
