The international charity group, Save the Children has said that five new Ebola cases is being recorded an hour in Sierra Leone, where the disease has killed many people.<\/h1>\n

This revelation means healthcare demands have gone up dramatically and patients are said to be finding it difficult to access healthcare system as a result of limited health facilities.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

More than 765 new cases of Ebola were reported in the country last week but Save the Children said there are only 327 beds in the country for Ebola patients.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Great Britain has promised of donating more than 700 beds to the Ebola worse affected countries but that promise is yet to be honored.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The United Nations International Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) said on Wednesday that more than 3,700 children in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone who have lost their parents to Ebola are in total neglect. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Save the Children said in a statement that as soon as authorities get on top of the virus in one area in Sierra Leone, the disease all of a sudden emerges in another area, spreading the disease at a terrifying rate.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“We are facing the frightening prospect of an epidemic which is spreading like wildfire across Sierra Leone, with the number of new cases doubling every three weeks”.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Untold numbers of children are dying anonymously at home or in the streets without it being recorded health officials”, Country Director for Save the Children in Sierra Leone, Rob MacGillivray said.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed that a patient is being treated at a Dallas hospital after testing positive for Ebola. It is the first case diagnosed in the United States.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

President Barack Obama has said that Ebola is a global threat to humanity and that all nations should join the fight against it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The World Health Organization has also warned that Ebola infections could increase to 20,000 by November if efforts to tackle the outbreak were not stepped up. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

New figures suggest that 70% of those infected with Ebola in West Africa have died, putting the disease in a very deadly position.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

According to health experts, Ebola Symptoms include high fever, bleeding and breakdown of central nervous system. The disease is said to spread by body fluids such as blood or saliva.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Fatality rate is said to be around 90% but current outbreak has a mortality rate of about 55% and incubation period is 2 to 21 days. There is no proven vaccine or cure as at now but supportive care such as rehydrating patients who have diarrhea and vomiting can help recovery.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
