Concerned over growing deaths due to deadly virus in Western Africa, Pakistan government has devised a strategy to prevent spread of deadly Ebola virus in the country.<\/h1>\n

Islamabad, Oct 16\/Nationalturk \u2013 Pakistan government has devised a strategy to prevent spread of deadly Ebola virus in the country.<\/p>\n

According to Pakistani officials, people entering the country from Western African countries would be scanned at airports and other entry points.<\/p>\n

They said thermo scan machines should be installed at airports to detect people with Ebola and other viruses.<\/p>\n

\u201cIsolation rooms would be set up in hospitals, where suspected Ebola patients can be admitted and treated,\u201d officials said.<\/p>\n

They said if a person is diagnosed with the virus, he\/she should be kept in a room having negative pressure so that air does not come out of the room.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe virus can also travel in air. The healthcare workers should be careful while treating a patient,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n

Ebola virus is an endemic in Africa with a fatality rate of up to 90 per cent.<\/p>\n

The officials said World Health Organisation (WHO) would provide extensive trainings to the hospital staff to deal with Ebola virus patients.<\/p>\n

They said although the virus is not endemic in Pakistan, but people coming from West Africa can bring it in the country, especially officials of Pakistani peace missions stationed in African countries.<\/p>\n

4500 die of Ebola so far<\/h2>\n

According to WHO,\u00a0 4,493 people have died from the Ebola virus so far and \u00a0situation in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone is deteriorating.<\/p>\n

\u201cA total of 8,997 confirmed, probable and suspected cases of Ebola had been reported in seven countries as of October 12 with \u00a0vast majority of these in the three West African nations,\u201d WHO report said.<\/p>\n

It stated that the situation in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone is deteriorating with widespread and persistent transmission of Ebola.<\/p>\n
