File Pic<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h1>Taking further stride in space technology, India\u00a0 on Thursday successfully launched third navigation satellite from the spaceport in Southern India.<\/h1>\n<p>New Delhi, Oct 16\/Nationalturk \u2013 India on Thursday successfully launched IRNSS-1C, the third satellite in the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), on board ISRO&#8217;s PSLV C26 rocket from the spaceport.<\/p>\n<p>India\u2019s ISRO`s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, PSLV-C26, successfully launched IRNSS-1C in the early morning hours \u00a0from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota in Southern India. This is the 27<sup>th<\/sup> consecutively successful mission of PSLV.<\/p>\n<p>According to official statement,\u00a0 `XL`configuration of PSLV was used for the mission. Previously, the same configuration of the vehicle was successfully used six times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the lift-off of PSLV-C26 with the ignition of the first stage, the important flight events &#8212; stage and strap-on ignitions, heat-shield separation, stage and strap-on separations and satellite injection &#8212;\u00a0 took place as planned. After a flight of about 20 minutes 18 seconds,<\/p>\n<h2>IRNSS-IC Satellite weighs 1425 kgs<\/h2>\n<p>IRNSS-1C Satellite, weighing 1425 kgs, was injected to an elliptical orbit of 282.56 km X 20,670 km, which is very close to the intended orbit,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>It said after injection, the solar panels of IRNSS-1C were deployed automatically.<\/p>\n<p>Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO`s) Master Control Facility \u00a0at Hassan, Karnataka in Southern India\u00a0 assumed the control of the satellite.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the coming days, four orbit manoeuvres will be conducted from Master Control Facility to position the satellite in the Geostationary Orbit at 83 deg East longitude,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>IRNSS-1C is the third of the seven satellites constituting the space segment of the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System.<\/p>\n<p>IRNSS-1A and IRNSS-1B, the first two satellites of the constellation, were successfully launched by PSLV on July 2, 2013 and April 4, 2014 respectively. Both IRNSS-1A and 1B are functioning satisfactorily from their designated geosynchronous orbital positions.<\/p>\n<p>IRNSS is an independent regional navigation satellite system designed to provide position information in the Indian region and 1500 km around the Indian mainland.<\/p>\n<p>IRNSS would provide two types of services, namely, Standard Positioning Services (SPS) &#8211; provided to all users \u2013 and Restricted Services (RS), provided to authorised users.<\/p>\n<p>According to official statement, in the coming months, the next satellite of this constellation, namely, IRNSS-1D, is scheduled to be launched by PSLV. The entire IRNSS constellation of seven satellites is planned to be completed by 2015.<\/p>\n<h3>Scientists felicitated<\/h3>\n<p>Indian Prime Minister\u00a0 Narendra Modi, has congratulated scientists for the successful launch of the navigation satellite &#8220;IRNSS 1C&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Congrats to the scientists at ISRO for the successful launch of navigation satellite IRNSS 1C. It is a matter of immense pride and joy,&#8221; the Prime Minister said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;India has successfully launched IRNSS 1C.
