{"id":54951,"date":"2014-10-17T09:17:57","date_gmt":"2014-10-17T06:17:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/?p=54951"},"modified":"2014-10-17T09:17:57","modified_gmt":"2014-10-17T06:17:57","slug":"india-test-fires-indigenously-developed-n-capable-cruise-missile-54951","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/india-test-fires-indigenously-developed-n-capable-cruise-missile-54951\/","title":{"rendered":"India test-fires indigenously developed N-capable cruise missile"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_54952\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-54952\" style=\"width: 402px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-54952\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/India-Missile-Nationalturk-17-402x360.jpg\" alt=\"India test fires missile: File pic\" width=\"402\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/India-Missile-Nationalturk-17-402x360.jpg 402w, https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/India-Missile-Nationalturk-17-246x220.jpg 246w, https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/India-Missile-Nationalturk-17.jpg 470w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 402px) 100vw, 402px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-54952\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">India test fires missile: File pic<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h1>India on Friday test fired indigenously developed nuclear capable cruise missile.<\/h1>\n<p>New Delhi, Oct 17\/Nationalturk &#8211; A day after successfully launching third navigational satellite, India on Friday test fired indigenously developed nuclear capable \u201cNirbhay\u201d cruise missile.<\/p>\n<p>Indian scientists today test-fired the indigenously developed sub-sonic long-range cruise missile named &#8216;Nirbhay&#8217; (meaning fearless) from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur, Odisha in Southern India, which was \u00a0on Sunday hit by cyclone Hudhud.<\/p>\n<p>The missile took off at 1004 hours\u00a0 and after reaching a height of 800 metres, took a sharp turn towards the Bay of Bengal.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s test firing was the second developmental trial of the nuclear-capable missile.<\/p>\n<h2>First test of missile was terminated in 2013<\/h2>\n<p>Earlier, on March 12 last year, the missile was test-fired for the first time but the\u00a0 flight had to be terminated mid-way, as scientists observed deviations from its intended course.<\/p>\n<p>According to media reports, &#8216;Nirbhay&#8217; having long-range capability is \u00a0developed by India\u2019s Aeronautical development Establishment (ADE), a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) associated lab in Bangalore.<\/p>\n<p>The missile can carry conventional as well as nuclear warheads and hit targets between 700 to 100 kilometres away and is capable of flying at tree-top level which protects it from being detected by radars.<\/p>\n<p>It has the capability to manoeuvre around its target to strike with precision.<\/p>\n<p>According to experts, \u00a0Nirbhay is a sub-sonic cruise missile and gives India the capacity to launch different kinds of payloads at different ranges from various platforms at a very low cost.
