{"id":56754,"date":"2015-03-05T09:55:25","date_gmt":"2015-03-05T07:55:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/?p=56754"},"modified":"2015-03-05T09:55:25","modified_gmt":"2015-03-05T07:55:25","slug":"china-says-normal-arms-on-ship-held-in-colombia-56754","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/china-says-normal-arms-on-ship-held-in-colombia-56754\/","title":{"rendered":"China says normal arms on ship held in Colombia"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-56756\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/china-cuba-ship-normal-army.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"389\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/china-cuba-ship-normal-army.jpg 610w, https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/china-cuba-ship-normal-army-280x178.jpg 280w, https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/china-cuba-ship-normal-army-564x360.jpg 564w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/>A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Wednesday that a Chinese ship headed to Cuba had been carrying \u201cnormal military supplies\u201d when it was stopped by Colombian officials.<\/h1>\n<p>\u201cAs far as I know, the ship carries normal military supplies exported from China to Cuba, and no sensitive substances are involved,\u201d Hua Chunying told a press conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRelevant cooperation does not violate Chinese laws and regulations, nor contravene the international obligations China undertakes,\u201d she said. \u201cThis is normal cooperation in military trade.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ministry\u2019s comments come a day after Colombian authorities uncovered large amounts of armaments in a ship detained since Sunday in the northern coastal city of Cartagena.<\/p>\n<p>Luis Gonzalez, director of the Colombian attorney general\u2019s office, said the Da Dan Xia\u2019s captain Hu Wong had been detained, and charged with the illegal transportation of 2 million detonators, 3,000 artillery shells, 99 missiles and 100 tons of gunpowder.<\/p>\n<p>The material in question was hidden in bags of grain in 14 of the ship\u2019s containers.<\/p>\n<p>The ship\u2019s paperwork showed that the boat\u2019s final destination was Cuba and it was supposedly carrying pipes for use in the construction of a refinery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChina is in communication with the Colombian side on this matter,\u201d Hua said Wednesday. \u201cWe will provide necessary assistance to Chinese citizens involved in this and safeguard their rights and interests in accordance with the law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, a similar Chinese boat was detained in Panama while attempting to smuggle undeclared weaponry bound for Cuba (Anadolu Agency)<\/p>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #f00;\">Error, group does not exist!
