{"id":59051,"date":"2017-07-06T11:21:41","date_gmt":"2017-07-06T10:21:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/?p=59051"},"modified":"2017-07-06T11:21:41","modified_gmt":"2017-07-06T10:21:41","slug":"rome-hosts-ottoman-miniaturist-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/rome-hosts-ottoman-miniaturist-exhibition\/","title":{"rendered":"Rome Hosts Ottoman Miniaturist Exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>An exhibition of the work of renowned Ottoman miniaturist Matrakci Nasuh has opened in Rome.<\/h2>\n<p>Nasuh, who lived from 1480-1564, was an accomplished miniaturist &#8212; an Ottoman art form that portrayed events realistically while adhering to the rules of Islamic art &#8212; and developed a naturalistic style focusing on panoramas.<\/p>\n<p>His most famous works are a cityscape of Istanbul and volumes representing Sultan Suleiman I\u2019s 1535-36 campaign in Iraq and Iran.<\/p>\n<p>However, he was also a talented mathematician, historian, linguist and soldier.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition has been arranged by the Istanbul Intercultural Art Dialogues Association under the Turkish presidency. It will feature items covering Nasuh\u2019s achievements in mathematics, history and miniatures at the Societa Geografica Italiana. It runs to the end of the month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very happy. Rome is our eighth stage as Matrakci Nasuh is also nicknamed the Da Vinci of the East,\u201d exhibition curator Beste Gursu said.<\/p>\n<p>The display is next due to travel to Washington and Budapest.
