{"id":59442,"date":"2017-10-13T11:38:41","date_gmt":"2017-10-13T10:38:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/?p=59442"},"modified":"2017-10-13T11:39:30","modified_gmt":"2017-10-13T10:39:30","slug":"main-force-of-turkish-troops-enter-syrias-idlib","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/main-force-of-turkish-troops-enter-syrias-idlib\/","title":{"rendered":"Main force of Turkish troops enter Syria&#8217;s Idlib"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Turkish troops have crossed into Syria\u2019s Idlib province to monitor de-escalation zones that aim to bring an end to the six-and-a-half-year conflict, the military said Friday.<\/h2>\n<p>Military convoys crossed from Reyhanli in southern Turkey\u2019s Hatay province on Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the Turkish Armed Forces said soldiers had begun establishing observation points.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTurkish Armed Forces elements that are to serve in the Idlib de-escalation zone have started their activities by establishing observation posts from Oct. 12, 2017, as part of the Astana agreement\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Turkish Armed Forces continue to carry out their duties in the territory within the engagement rules agreed by the guarantor countries in the Astana negotiations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the weekend, reconnaissance teams entered Idlib province as part of an international agreement to establish four de-escalation zones across Syria.<\/p>\n<p>The operation in the northwestern region was launched under a May deal between Turkey, which backs groups opposed to Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad\u2019s regime, and Russia and Iran, who support Assad.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement aims to ensure the continuation of a cease-fire agreed last December between the three guarantor nations.<\/p>\n<p>According to the military statement, the de-escalation zones were created to \u201cenhance the effectiveness of the cease-fire regime, end conflicts, bring humanitarian aid to those in need [and] establish the necessary conditions for the return of those displaced\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Turkey\u2019s latest military intervention follows Operation Euphrates Shield, which saw the Free Syrian Army, backed by Turkish forces, clear Daesh from territory in northern Syria between August 2016 and March.<\/p>\n<!-- Error, Advert is not available at this time due to schedule\/geolocation restrictions! -->\n<p>Anadolu Agency<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Turkish troops have crossed into Syria\u2019s Idlib province to monitor de-escalation zones that aim to bring an end to the six-and-a-half-year conflict, the military said Friday.
