{"id":60615,"date":"2018-04-17T08:42:27","date_gmt":"2018-04-17T07:42:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/?p=60615"},"modified":"2018-04-17T08:42:27","modified_gmt":"2018-04-17T07:42:27","slug":"canada-pulls-diplomat-families-out-of-cuba","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/canada-pulls-diplomat-families-out-of-cuba\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada pulls diplomat families out of Cuba"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Canada has ordered families of its diplomats in Cuba to return home because of mysterious illnesses, the government said.<\/h2>\n<p>Cuba has been designated as an \u201cunaccompanied post\u201d by the Canadian government, meaning the families of Canadian diplomats are not permitted to live with the diplomats.<\/p>\n<p>The action was taken after a new medical report suggested that the mysterious illnesses that affected 10 Canadians \u2013 unexplained headaches, nausea, short-term memory loss and dizziness \u2013 could be the result of a \u201cnew type of possible acquired brain injury\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe cause remains unknown but could be human-made,\u201d Global Affairs Canada said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The illnesses affected both Canadian and American diplomats and their families. Canada dispatched a doctor last June to examine its victims of the maladies, but no diagnosis was conclusive.<\/p>\n<p>Several theories about sonic attacks and psychological induced illnesses have been put forth but are now ruled out. Several victims said they heard painful, high-pitched sounds.<\/p>\n<p>The United States pulled much of its staff and families, leaving only 10 in Havana after 24 Americans reported symptoms in January.<\/p>\n<p>The families will return to Canada over the next few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Canada has a few unaccompanied diplomatic posts, including Kabul and Tripoli.<\/p>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #f00;\">Error, group does not exist!
