“Officials at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam report the shooting incident at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard has been secured. One person is confirmed dead. The shooter has been identified as a U.S. Sailor,” the base said on its official Twitter page.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred at the vicinity of the shipyard\u2019s Dry Dock 2 around 2:30 p.m. local time.<\/p>\n
The sailor reportedly shot and injured three Department of Defense civilian workers before shooting themself, according to the base.<\/p>\n
The base is no longer in lockdown.<\/p>\n
The base said security officials are currently probing the incident.<\/p>\n
It added that the names of the victims will not be released until the next of kin have been notified.<\/p>\n
The incident came three days before Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, which honors the 2,403 U.S. citizens who were killed in a Japanese surprise attack on the harbor in Hawaii on Dec. 7, 1941.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
