{"id":66558,"date":"2020-10-09T11:20:51","date_gmt":"2020-10-09T10:20:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/?p=66558"},"modified":"2020-10-09T11:20:51","modified_gmt":"2020-10-09T10:20:51","slug":"putin-invites-foreign-ministers-of-azerbaijan-and-armenia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/putin-invites-foreign-ministers-of-azerbaijan-and-armenia\/","title":{"rendered":"Putin invites foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia.<\/p>\n<p>Putin has invited Azerbaijani, Armenian FMs to Moscow for peace talks.    <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe president of Russia is issuing a call to halt the fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh on humanitarian grounds in order to exchange dead bodies and prisoners,\u201d the Kremlin said in a statement.  <\/p>\n<p>The statement said Putin held a series of phone talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.  <\/p>\n<p>It said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov would mediate the peace talks. <\/p>\n<p>Relations between the two former Soviet republics have been tense since 1991, when the Armenian military occupied Nagorno-Karabakh, also known as Upper Karabakh, an internationally recognized territory of Azerbaijan.  <\/p>\n<p>New clashes erupted on Sept. 27, but international calls for a halt to the fighting have gone unanswered.
