{"id":69429,"date":"2022-05-06T08:10:04","date_gmt":"2022-05-06T07:10:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/?p=69429"},"modified":"2023-04-07T19:48:36","modified_gmt":"2023-04-07T16:48:36","slug":"mexican-president-begins-tour-of-central-america-in-guatemala","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/mexican-president-begins-tour-of-central-america-in-guatemala\/","title":{"rendered":"Mexican President Begins Tour of Central America in Guatemala"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">On the tour, the Mexican president will be accompanied by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The president of Mexico, Andr\u00e9s Manuel L\u00f3pez Obrador, will leave this Thursday for Guatemala to begin a tour of five Central American countries in which he will discuss issues of development, migration and border security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon his arrival in Guatemala, the Mexican president will go to the National Palace of Culture, where the official welcome ceremony will take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later he will meet behind closed doors with his Guatemalan counterpart, Alejandro Giammattei, which will be extended to the delegations of both nations and a final message to the press is expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Mexican ambassador in Guatemala, Romeo Ruiz, L\u00f3pez Obrador&#8217;s visit reflects the importance that his country gives to relations with the neighboring nation and destination of its exports with Central American countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Mexican diplomat, both leaders could discuss common issues on migration, economy and cooperation within the framework of the Comprehensive Development Plan and job creation for the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other approaches would include the possibility of opening a new Mexican consulate, rail interconnection, border crossings, and streamlining customs procedures to bring the bilateral relationship up to current and future challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the tour, the Mexican president will be accompanied by his wife, Beatriz Guti\u00e9rrez M\u00fcller, and the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Friday, May 6, L\u00f3pez Obrador will leave Guatemala for San Salvador, where he will meet with President Nayib Bukele. After the meeting of the presidents and their entourage there will be a message to the media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u00f3pez Obrador will arrive in Belize on May 7, where he will meet with Prime Minister John Brice\u00f1o.
