Israel has issued a new travel warning for its citizens in Turkey. In his statement today, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid called on his citizens in Istanbul to “Leave the country immediately”.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the party group meeting in the Israeli Parliament Knesset, Lapid referred to the news that Iran’s attempts to attack Israelis in Turkey were prevented last month and said, \u201cThese terrorist attacks target Israelis who are on vacation. They deliberately choose to kill or kidnap Israelis. “This is a real and serious threat,” he said. The Israeli minister said, \u201cWe call on the Israelis not to go to Istanbul and Turkey unless necessary. If you are in Istanbul, return to Israel immediately. If you have a flight plan to Istanbul, cancel it. No travel is more valuable than your life.<\/p>\n
Noting that he hoped the travel warning would be lifted before the end of the tourist season, Lapid also thanked Turkey for its help, stating that many Israeli citizens’ lives were saved in recent weeks.<\/p>\n
After the death of Colonel Hassan Sayid Khodaei, one of the top names of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, in an armed attack in front of his home last month, the Israeli administration warned its citizens not to “go to Turkey” due to possible attacks by Iran.<\/p>\n
