Several neighbors heard screams on Sunday night, which was nothing special given the previous tenants. “A neighbor said the apartment was cursed. Before that, a drug couple from the Neunkirchen area lived in it, before that a lady smoking weed. So noise and screams in this apartment were simply normal, many residents probably thought it was a wild, sprawling party,” explains tenant advisory board chairman Rudolf Giefing, who has lived with his wife in the building on Kantnergasse since 1985.<\/p>\n
The inveterate Floridsdorfer himself met the 25-year-old tenant of the apartment – he is now suspected of the police – a year ago. “He worked in a hardware store, introduced himself to me quite politely and asked if he could have an armchair from the bulky waste collection point. I allowed him to take the piece of furniture,” Giefing recalls of the very first encounter with the 25-year-old . However, Giefing’s wife improves her husband: “That was more than a year ago,” said the wife on the phone, whereupon Rudolf Giefing confessed: “She writes everything down, she logs it, so my wife’s statement will be correct.”<\/p>\n
Rudolf Giefing met the young man a few times in the stairwell or in the vicinity of the apartment: “What struck me most recently was the man’s greatly dilated pupils. Anyone who has half a clue knows how that is to be interpreted,” reports the Tenant Advisory Board Chairman to “Today”. The young woman had been to the 25-year-old a few times. “I don’t dare to say whether she was a girlfriend or his,” Giefing continued.<\/p>\n
In any case, on Saturday evening, the 20-year-old, the tenant and the second suspect, a 30-year-old (both men are presumed innocent) man, were seen by several residents celebrating with a vodka bottle near the apartment. “The trio rolled around in a dead end,” says Rudolf Giefing.<\/p>\n
After a night of drinking and probably drug use, the young woman from Vienna did not move on Sunday morning, the 25-year-old panicked and called the rescue service, ran barefoot into the stairwell and randomly kicked in windows. “That’s why all the blood in the stairwell,” explains Giefing.<\/p>\n
The paramedics found the 25-year-old with injured feet in the blood-smeared stairwell and treated him, the 30-year-old was caught by the police in the basement. For the 20-year-old, however, any help came too late, according to the autopsy, she died of blunt force trauma to the back, abdomen and genital area.<\/p>\n
The 30-year-old is likely to be without a permanent job or residence, and is likely to be a drinking mate of the 25-year-old. “It’s more in the direction of neglect and a little less well-to-do,” explains one investigator, adding: “Of course, that doesn’t make the survey easier, quite the opposite.” Because the two accused men would now blame each other.<\/p>\n
The blood of the dead would now be examined closely for drugs and any other substances. “But that takes a while,” explains a police officer.
