Kate Bush didn’t expect that: her song “Running Up That Hill” is suddenly as present and successful as it was when it was released in 1985. The reason: the Netflix series “Stranger Things” has incorporated the classic. So far, the Brit had not commented on the new fame and the associated rain of money. In general, she has lived a very secluded life for years.<\/p>\n

“It’s so exciting”<\/h3>\n

But now the 63-year-old surprises with an interview. “It’s just extraordinary,” she told BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour on Wednesday of her creation’s renewed popularity. Although she expected the song to attract attention through the series, she did not see this coming.<\/p>\n

In her eyes it is something special that so many young people are now hearing the song; many probably for the first time. “It’s so exciting. But it’s actually pretty shocking, isn’t it? I mean, the whole world has gone crazy,” she says, laughing.<\/p>\n

The creators of “Stranger Things” have given “Running Up That Hill” a special place, the artist thinks. “I thought what a nice way to use the song in this positive way. Almost like a talisman of sorts for Max.” In season four, the song becomes the personal anthem of character Max Mayfield (played by Sadie Sink).
