According to the Cuban Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, these ties, which he described as excellent, were reaffirmed in a meeting held with the Bahamian Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Philip Davis, who is completing an official visit to this island.<\/p>\n
In his Twitter profile, the host head of government explained that he thanked Davis for his country’s pronouncements against the United States media campaign to disqualify Cuban medical collaboration, as well as his support in the fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the northern power on Cuba.<\/p>\n
Subsequently, the President of Cuba, Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel, met with the visitor at the Palace of the Revolution (headquarters of the Executive), after offering him an official welcome.<\/p>\n
Also participating in this contact, on the Cuban side, were the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodr\u00edguez, Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, and Public Health, Jos\u00e9 \u00c1ngel Portal.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Davis paid tribute to the Cuban National Hero, Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed.<\/p>\n
The President of Cuba, Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel, reaffirmed today the will to deepen political and cooperation ties with the Bahamas, whose Prime Minister, Philip Davis, is making an official visit to the largest of the Antilles.<\/p>\n
At the beginning of a meeting held with Davis at the Palace of the Revolution, the Cuban president emphasized: “you are received in our country as a friend and a brother,” and assured that the Bahamas can count on Cuba to expand cooperation and deepen the dialogue binational politician.<\/p>\n
According to Cuban television, in the contact both senior leaders discussed the potential to diversify collaborative relations in areas of mutual interest and continue deepening the ties of friendship.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Davis thanked the warm welcome he has been offered in Cuba and expressed “I have been received here as a brother and member of the family.”<\/p>\n
This is the first visit to Cuba that Davis has made in his capacity as prime minister, a position he assumed in September 2021.<\/p>\n
Cuba and The Bahamas established diplomatic relations 48 years ago, and collaborate in areas such as health, transportation, tourism, migration, and adaptation to climate change, in addition to defending common positions in various international forums.<\/p>\n
