Biontech boss U\u011fur \u015eahin<\/a> sees medicine on the right path to \u201ccontrolling or ideally curing cancer in the long term\u201d. \u201cIn principle, I see no reason why many types of cancer should not be detectable earlier and easier to cure,\u201d \u015eahin told the news magazine \u201cDer Spiegel\u201d after a report on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The background is a development that \u015eahin calls \u201cthe great knowledge revolution\u201d \u2013 an ever faster spiral of progress and development leaps, driven by digital technologies and artificial intelligence. \u201cEverything happens much, much faster today than it used to,\u201d said the researcher and company boss. “To gain insights, to confirm them, to apply them.”<\/p>\n

First cancer drugs as early as 2026?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u015eahin has been researching cancer for decades and is a professor of experimental oncology at the Mainz University Medical Center. The company he founded, Biontech , is currently researching almost 30 new cancer therapies and relies in particular on artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n

From 2026, \u015eahin hopes that the first medications will be ready for approval. \u201cWe want to have a large portfolio of cancer<\/a> therapies on the market by 2030,\u201d said the Biontech boss on the occasion of World Cancer Day.<\/p>\n
