{"id":7996,"date":"2010-07-28T16:48:59","date_gmt":"2010-07-28T13:48:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/?p=7996"},"modified":"2010-07-28T16:48:59","modified_gmt":"2010-07-28T13:48:59","slug":"bullfighting-ban-in-catalonia-barcelona-spain-as-of-2012-54256243","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/bullfighting-ban-in-catalonia-barcelona-spain-as-of-2012-54256243\/","title":{"rendered":"Bullfighting ban in Catalonia (Barcelona), Spain as of 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"font-size: 1.5em; text-align: justify;\">The parliament of the Catalonia region of Spain has banned bullfighting after a vote took place when some 180,000 people signed a petition to ban the barbaric cultural sport.<\/h1>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<figure id=\"attachment_7998\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7998\" style=\"width: 280px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7998\" title=\"bullfight1a\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/bullfight1a1-280x178.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"280\" height=\"178\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/bullfight1a1-280x178.jpg 280w, https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/bullfight1a1.jpg 513w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 280px) 100vw, 280px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-7998\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Animal Rights groups have been battling for a ban on the &quot;bloodsport&quot; for decades to stop such scenes as those on the image above.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As a result, bullfighting will be illegal in Barcelona, Tarragona, Lleida and Girona regions as of January 2012.<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The vote at the parliament of Catalonia was welcomed by the majority of Catalonians but still many were upset by the vote because bullfighting is seen as a traditional activity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The vote on Wednesday saw 68 parliamentarians voting for the ban where as 55 voted against it.
