Pop legends, newcomers and great emotions: Many big stars of the pop world met in Manchester at the MTV Europe Music Awards. But it wasn’t just the awards ceremony that caused a stir at the event.<\/p>\n
The British singer Rita Ora hosted the show and thrilled the audience with ten spectacular outfit changes. Right at the start, she made a strong statement on the red carpet in a dress that looked like it was made of hairpieces.<\/p>\n
A particularly eye-catching feature was a transparent, floor-length cape that Ora wore for her first appearance on stage. An almost transparent veil, decorated with silver sequins and sparkling crystals, covered Ora’s head and hair, but was sleeveless – and the cleavage reached below her belly button.<\/p>\n
The 33-year-old, who is in a relationship with New Zealand film director Taika Waititi, apparently wore very little under the transparent veil. The outfit was rounded off with Egyptian-inspired bangles that wrapped around her wrist and a gold chain with a shiny silver pendant that looked like a drop.<\/p>\n
The trend towards transparency has been around for a long time, but has become more and more popular since 2023. Transparent looks are always an eye-catcher. Celebrities like to wear such “less is more” dresses, especially when they’re on the catwalk.<\/p>\n
Other highlights of Ora’s wardrobe that evening included a cyberpunk look with fringes and an Adidas tracksuit variant.<\/p>\n
Probably the most moving moment of the evening was when Rita Ora, with tears in her eyes, remembered the recently deceased singer Liam Payne. He was “one of the nicest people I knew,” the 33-year-old said of the former One Direction singer. She added: “He had the biggest heart and was always the first person to offer help.”<\/p>\n
Payne died last month after falling from the third floor of a hotel in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires. Ora had worked with the boy band star.<\/p>\n
US superstar Taylor Swift has received the award for best artist at the awards for the third time. She is making MTV history. The 34-year-old also received the awards for “best live act” and “best video”. She thanked everyone in a recorded video message.<\/p>\n
Ariana Grande was named best pop act. US singer Benson Boone accepted the award for best new artist. South African singer Tyla was awarded the “Best Afrobeats” award.<\/p>\n
The duo Pet Shop Boys received the “Pop Pioneers” award. Hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes was honored for his lifetime achievement with the “Global Icon” award. “This is my first time here. I’ve never received an award from MTV before,” said the 52-year-old. He added: “This feels incredible.”<\/p>\n
