Munich<\/a> police issued a statement on social media platform X: \u201cWe are currently conducting an operation together with the fire department in the Lerchenau area. Please avoid the vicinity; major traffic disruptions are expected.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Bild, the incident began with a fire in a single-family home. Witnesses reported hearing several explosions followed by gunshots. The outlet said one man was found dead and another person was discovered with gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n

Bild further reported that a man may have booby-trapped his parents\u2019 house with explosives, set it on fire, and then taken his own life. Special units and bomb disposal experts were deployed and are continuing their inspections at the site.<\/p>\n

Police confirmed the operation began around 5 a.m. local time and emphasized that there is \u201cno danger to the population.\u201d Officials also stressed the incident has no connection to the ongoing Oktoberfest celebrations.
