At least 37 people have been killed in Pakistan largest city, Karachi after the assassination of a lawmaker officials said on Tuesday.<\/h1>\n

\"\"According to reports from the area, shops and vehicles have been set on fire with security services struggling to keep control of the angered groups.<\/h2>\n

Karachi, in southern Pakistan is especially important for Pakistan as it is the largest city in the country with 16 million residents and is an important hub for Pakistani investment.<\/p>\n

The violence started after a well known provincial lawmaker, Raza Haider, was assassinated while he was praying at a mosque on Monday.<\/p>\n

Haider\u2019s bodyguard was also killed during the attack.<\/p>\n

Many Pakistani\u2019s believe that the murder of the lawmaker was politically motivated as Raza Haider was the member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, which runs the city of Karachi.<\/p>\n

Karachi has been known for unrest with a history of bloody political, ethnic and religious violence and is also a known hide-out for al-Qaida and Taliban militants.<\/p>\n
